Stamping Sundays - The Zebras Came to Funkytown !!

Hi Goddesses

So, you may remember last Sunday I spent a lot of time describing whining about how Stars had won as the stamping theme and not my personal choice of Acid / Funky Zebras.  Now, I am nothing if not a crafty Crumpet who knows how to get her own way, and strangely enough one of the choices this week was a Plate Ending in 7.  And what does Konad 57 have on it ????  ZEBRA PRINT !!!!  AND IT WON !!!! Yay.    Evil fiendish laugh.

Now because of said whining, the pressure was quite high to do something outstanding.  I debated long and hard what the right colour combo should be, and actually wish I had gone with electric blue and electric pink, but never mind.  This mani ???  Boy did it pay me back for being a whiny bitch ......

Step by Step Guide to Trip to Funkytown, Hasty Exit and Creeping Return

The base for this is good ole Barry M and Block Orange.  I love this colour - it is what is says it is - screaming orange!

this was topped with 2 coats of Ludarana Flocado in FLASH, an amazing electric flakie which flashes between acid yellow and acid green.  Love this combo.

Crumpet is very happy so far.   This signals impending disaster.

The aim was to create a zebra that could not possibly exist in nature, but might be seen dancing quite gaily in Funkytown, so I decided the orange should have bright pink stripes. I chose my beloved CG Traffic Jam (about as pink as you can get) and ......oh noooooo, I can't even see you on top of the orange :(  Absolutely gutted :(

So, instead I started stamping with Barry M Vivid Purple, which is dark, but again it didn't show up against the nail as much as I wanted to, and so, at approximately 4pm yesterday afternoon, the zebras left Funkytown, expelled by the high council for their airy-fairyness.

However, as they approached the city walls, one of the zebras had a flash of inspiration and telepathically sent me this message - do another layer of purple!!  Er, what, line the stamp up??  Lol !!  Lolololololololol !!!  But the zebras kept pleading and bleating and so I did ....

And what you see before you is DOUBLE STAMPED funky zebras!   I know !!!!  They still don't look quite how I wanted, but I am soooo impressed with my double stamping lol.  Except the thumb ?  Yes, but we don't need to discuss that ....

See you in FunkyTown !!  Enjoy xxx  :)

Zoya YARA

Hi Goddesses

As an impulsive and compulsive shopaholic, I often make mistakes.  I'll buy things, decide I can live without them, sell them, and then a few weeks / months later go "maaaaan, I wish I'd kept that".  Lol.   Welome to Yara's story.

I originally bought Yara when Smoke and Mirrors came out, and agreed she was stunning.  However, at that time, I rarely wore anything other than purple, red, or pink on my nails, and I decided I didn't need Yara AND Dree.  Whilst I thought Yara was undoubtedly the better polish of the 2, I decided to keep Dree because I thought she would be more versatile for nail art.   So, I put her on ebay, she got snapped up immediately, and even as I was wrapping her up to send to her new mommy, I already felt regret.

So, fast forward 5 months, and me and Yara meet again, and this time she's not going ANYWHERE lol.   I'd forgotten how truly beautiful she is.  Stunning, actually.

As I'm sure you know by now, Yara is a gorgeous olive green, yellow-toned, with flecks of gold.  What I never noticed before is that sometimes those flecks look coppery too.   Yara is the colour of weeds, and it's amazing that a colour that could have looked so wrong, ended up looking sooooooooo right, all because the Zoya Fairies got heavy with the gold dust.

Yara - gorgeous.  If you don't do green or would only ever buy one, this is your one.

Enjoy xxx  :)

ICING Birthday Beyotch & After Party

With a little help from China Glaze Traffic Jam

Hi Goddesses

A double delight for you today - 2 Icing polishes that have been causing a little bit of a stir.

As you know, I am a sucker for glitters, so the moment I saw these, I WANTED, and my good friend Bee was happy enough to make that happen for me :)

After Party you will have seen more of - it's a crazy shredded irregular glitter which does look like the stuff you sweep up after the last dance.   It's also weird though.  In all the photos I've seen, it's looked electric, but when the bottle arrived it looked ...... coppery, and muted.   Happily, that's just a trick of the light, and once on the nail it's a mixture of orange, blue, gold, and silvery lilac glitter.

I have to say, it looks nowhere near as stunning over the Traffic Jam as it does in photos I've seen of it over black, so fail for me.   This is a nice *different* glitter - just that little bit edgy.

Birthday Beyotch on the other hand plays it a lot safer, but I possibly prefer it.  These is small and medium round glitter in silver, gold, blue and reddy-pinky-orange.   At first glance it's similar to Happy Birthday and Rainbow Connection, but it has fewer colours in it.  I actually prefer that - the blue is very pronounced, which really makes it *pop* on the nail.

Traffic Jam ?   Aaah, Traffic Jam.  When this came out, I decided I didn't need another pink, it's not even a colour I wear that much, but then I saw a water marble using this and Urban Night and knew I had to get it.  This is absolutely intense and electric and super fabulous.  It's the perfect dark fuchsia / cerise / dark magenta - great for contrasts, but also beautiful in its own right.

Finally, like all glitters, these SCRATCH.   I hurt myself :(   not that I could admit to anyone that I had a glitter injury, but seriously, do yourself a favour and try NOT to rub your eye.

Enjoy xx  :)

Picture Polish - FESTIVAL

HI Goddesses

So here we go again, with the final flakie in my trio of Picture Polishes.

FESTIVAL is a little bit of everything.  It's got the orange / green flakies, and it's got the blues - and until I do a comparison, I can't really see that it's much different to Hypnotic.

I like how the flakies bend peachey on this one - it seems to have a mixture of both the other flakies.

Once again, we've got the same colours -

thumb = SH Right Said Red
index = SH Delphinium
middle = CG Starboard
ring = CG Secret Peri-wink-le
pinkie = OPI Black Onyx

Doesn't the black just look sensational ??  Super stellar, like the stars caught fire.

This I think is the one that's looked the best over the blue - although I did use 2 coats, because 1 coat of Festival was barely visible.

Again the red is a success, and I am also liking the green, and even good old Dephinium is getting more action on this one !

Tomorrow I'll have a comparison of all 3 - enjoy xxx  :)
