Adventures In Stamping - BLUE

Hi Goddesses

Well, it's been a controversial week in Adventures In Stamping :)  The winning theme was "Only Using Blue" which led to a big debate about whether teal was blue ?  Personally, I think teal is a bit of a sociopath who can't decide whether to be green or blue, but according to both Dictionary.com and ask.com, teal is indeed a blue.   Who knew?

But I digress.  Right up to the moment I needed to stamp, I still hadn't decided what to do.  I had worked out my base, but not my stamp. At one point, I thought about stamping 5 things that are never blue in nature - a cat, a tree etc - but as I was flicking through my Red Angel plates for inspiration, RA 119 caught my eye - the snowflake!

Here in England, we have finally had snow over the last 24 hours, and nothing, NOTHING, is as magical as snow, and as I didn't have any stamping plates in December, I thought now was as good a time as any to do a beautiful snowflake.

The base - this is 1 coat of Orly Snow Cone.  1 coat !!  I hate Orly because it is so thin, but this was totally opaque in 1 coat.  1 coat !!  What the whatnot ?!   I then lightly sponged on some Essie Borrowed and Blue, making sure I only covered about 50% of each nail, and finished with a coat of LA Girl Glitter Addict in Aqueous.

And loved it.  And seriously debated stopping.  Almost stopped.  Scared.  What if stamping ruins it.  Eeeek.  Seriously love it.  What to do, what to do.  Take photos, Crumpet, and then if it goes wrong, you can show everyone the amazing pre-stamping photos.  Genius!!

I finally did stamp it, with good ole unbeatable Color Club Foiled in Cold Metal (seriously, I wish you could get these in every colour under the sun.  They are SATURATED and perfect for stamping).

And ..... I LOVES IT !!!  I seriously love it.   This may be my stamping high point so far.  Heck, it might even be my peak.    Love it, love it, love it.   Very happy Crumpet.

So how was your day ???

xxx Enjoy :)

Stamping & My Favourite Christmas Movie

PURPLE CRUMPET FAIRY CHALLENGE – The 31 Days of Christmas

Day 29 – Your Favourite Christmas Movie

Hi Goddesses

OMG I am sooooooo excited to bring you this post.

Can you guess what the movie is just from this one photo ?

For the longest time I was going to do Wizard of Oz nails and then Beth and I sat down to watch and singalong to this the other day and a GENIUS idea was born J

Have you got it yet ??  3 clues –

Are they curtains by any chance ?
Brown paper packages tied up with string
I simply remember my favourite things, and then I don’t feel …. So saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad J

Yes!!  It’s the curtains that Maria made into playclothes in The Sound of Music, one of THE best films of all time J  I love this film!!  And I am so glad that Beth loves it too.  We practice Doh, A Dear a lot, but her favourite song is Cuck-oooooo.  Personally I like a bit of yodel-ay-ee-yodel-ay-ee-yodel-ay-ee-oh as well J

This mani was born from my new Red Angel plates which have lots of pretty “wallpaper” patterns as I call them.  This was a base of OPI Skull & Glossbones and then stamping with CG Westside Warrior and RA-104.

I am really super delighted with these.  I feel they look like what I wanted them to resemble and it’s also not too bad a stamping effort either, although I am struggling to get the stamp over the whole nail (maybe my nails are just wide, like the rest of me).

Best of all, this made me smile and sing everytime I looked at it lol.

Result J

Enjoy xx J

Christmas Challenge Day 30 - Detox!

LEIGHTON DENNY - Supermauva

Hi Goddesses

I have been itching to wear this since it arrived a couple of weeks ago as it is a TOTAL palate cleanser after all the red and green and glitter I’ve been wearing.

And doesn’t it have a cool name ?   Supermauva.  It’s also a very cool polish.   It’s another greyed out lilac (but I LOVES them) however, this one has a twist – an amazing soft violet shimmer which runs through it.

So, things this reminds me of –

·         A paler OPI Parlez Vous OPI, made from clouds
·         A paler Perplex – it totally has that same quality Perplex has
·         Squishy rain clouds in FairyLand

There is a beautiful softness to this colour, really beautiful and I can see me wearing this LOADS.  Because of the bright white light in the photo studio / utility room, a lot of the warmth (and the shimmer) has bled out of the photos.  Unfortunately there has been no sunlight in England today at all - it’s been like living in a bat cave.

Really loving Leighton Denny as a brand too – superb application, very smooth.

Just because I could, I then did some stamping on the top using CG LOL and one of my new Red Angel plates – RA111. It looked good, tho it didn’t quite cover the whole nail.  I debated colouring in some of the scallops, but decided against it.  I’ll save that for another time J

xx

Enjoy J  xx
