30 Days of Purple - Day 14 - Girly Bits INTO THE NIGHT

Hello my lovely ladies and apologies for my relative silence this week.  I've been suffering with a sinus related migraine since Wednesday, which has made it impossible to blog (the Work Wear Wednesday post had been prepared earlier).  Added to that, Beth has spoken in nothing but high-pitched squeals as we count down to the arrival of Bluebelle the kitten tomorrow!

So let's catch up the Purples first. I have to say, this may be my very favourite challenge I have ever done.  It's been so easy and enjoyable, and hasn't felt like effort at all.  I think  30 Days of Purple is going to have to be an annual event.

Today I have a gorgeous polish from Girly Bits - Into The Night.   As I've mentioned, I tend to avoid buying dark polishes, as they really struggle against my skin tone, and when I first saw this, I decided against it.

Anyway, my lovely friend Lyncia then bought it for me as an unexpected gift and as I unwrapped it, I gave it a teeny weeny wolf whistle - I hadn't realised the base was purpish !!!  Or that it was LOADED with holographic glitter !!  That makes this one very special polish indeed :)

I used a base of KIKO 333 Brilliant Violet as this looked a very fine glitter polish, and I've decided I'm never wearing those without undies again! Into The Night is quite a thick composition, which given the fineness of it's glitter, is excellent news - it means it goes on thick and easy, and doesn't require a lot of manipulation.

I honestly can't tell you how stunning this polish looked on my fingers.  Why?  Because my photos are shit !!  There was WAY too much holo sparkle going on for my camera to control itself, and almost all the photos I took are blurred or off focus.  Trust me though, if you love purple, and you love holo, you NEED this polish.

I then stamped over it with this rose pattern from DRK-B.   As with a lot of the DRK-B images, it went on a little thicker and more solid than I would have liked - I would have preferred to see more of the polish between the stamping, but hey ho!

Digit-al Dozen Does BLUE - China Patterns

Sorry for the mess I have made of our scheduled programming :(  I have been battling bad sinuses most of the week and then last night they completely floored me.  Won.  Destroyed me.  I've spent most of the day sleeping, or shuffling around like a sloth in slo-mo.  The pain is like nothing else on earth.

One of the amazing things about doing this is the amazing nail polish community, and I am seriously staggered by how many women also suffer sinus and migraine problems.  Mine are either caused by an infection or, like this time, a dramatic shift in the weather.  I've been waiting 3 days for the sky to completely empty of rain.  For those of you who've never experienced sinus pain, trust me when I say nothing else compares - it's solid, immovable, vicious and inescapable.  Misery indeed.

So this is the first of many catch up posts - this is what I had planned for my DD Day 4 post on Thursday.  Luckily it was already half-written.  This is really simple - white base, stamp with colour - but also really effective.

As I hope you can tell, this is desgined to look like china plates or porcelain.  I used the amazing OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls for my base, and then stamped using Konad neon blue.  In the bottle, the Konad is as dark as Baker Street, so I'm disappointed it came out as light as it did here, but hey ho.

I tortured myself trying to find the right stamping pattern for this.  I KNOW I saw someone do a mani like this maybe 4 or 6 weeks ago, but I can't find it ANYWHERE.   In the end, I ended up settling on this pattern from DRK-B.

I love the overall effect, and hopefully it does look like a china pattern!  Finally, if you really want to blow your mind, go and click HERE and check out the similar mani Chalkboard Nails did .... FREEHAND.  Yup, she's that good ggrrrrrrr.

Stamping Sunday - Pulsating Pink n Purple and DRK-B

Apologies that today's post reaches you so late - other things have consumed a lot of my time today, some of them good, some of them negative :(   The GOOD news is that I've started to create Indie Corner and you should now be able to see it in the Page Bar just above this post.  It's very much a work in progress so all feedback is welcome.

With everything that's been going on this month, I haven't done many Stamping Sunday posts, but this week's theme was Pulsating Pink and Purple - how could I resist ?

The base of this mani is the SENSATIONAL pink that is China Glaze Under The Boardwalk from the Neon Collex.   It's less neon than the others, and also doesn't dry matte; it has far more of a jelly composition to it.  Whatever, it looks glorious, even on its own (although it does dry considerably darker than the bottle).

I then stamped with one of my favourite patterns - this lattice from DRK-B.   I used Sally Hansen Purple Bolt for the stamping.

A note for those of you who like to be encouraged - my stamping this past week has been going beautifully, perfectly even.  Why is that?  What am I doing differently?  Absolutely NOTHING!  Lol, stamping - she's a temperamental mistress.

Stamping Week - Neptune Nails

I hope you're enjoying Stamping Week, and today sees another trot out for the DRK-B plate, which is truly stunning.

Today's mani has a lot in common with the a-England one you saw earlier in the week, and was done at the same time.  Then it was the right hand, today you get to see what was on the left :)

The base for this hand is a skittle again - this time a-England Saint George is on the thumb, middle and pinkie, and HITS Hera is on the index and ring.   Both are teal holos, but in totally different ways, and there is a comparison post coming up, honest!

I decided I wanted a watery theme for the nails as the colours reminded me of mermaids and storm tossed seas.  Instead of being too obvious, I picked this pattern, which reminds me of cresting waves.

I used Barry M Silver Foil (obvs) and I think this almost stamped TOO well.   You can see on some of the nails that the dots aren't very well defined because the image has been picked up so deeply.   It's a cool pattern though - I see lots of uses for this in our future :)

Brit Nails - Models Own Buff Pink = Glitterfish!

And welcome to the 3rd polish the lovely people at Models Own sent me ..... Buff Pink.    This went through quite a few evolutions to get to the photo you see above, so hold tight and here we go ......

Buff Pink is pretty much the very opposite of a Crumpet polish.   It's pale, sheer and ... not much else :)   However, I did find some uses for it.  In the bottle it's pure subtlety - a milky peachy pink watercolour.

This is how it looks on it's own - just a smidge darker than a base coat.   A couple of layers later, and I *almost* had mannequin hands for my albino skin lol.

It's absolutely not for me on 99.9% of the days of the year, but if you want something subtle and barely there, this is perfect.   Being a Crumpet, I had to create it some perfection, and the first thing I did was layer it with Candeo  South St, an awesome multi-coloured glitterbomb.

I was in a very playful mood the day I did this, and it occured to me that Buff Pink may have been the polish I have been searching for for so long - one even I can create a jelly sandwich with!  And so I did!

I was quite happy with this phase, even though whiteish is not a good colour on me.   This muted some of the craziness of the glitter, but still left enough playful behind.

And then, dear goddesses, I stamped it .....

I knew I wanted to stamp it to brighten it back up, so I picked Konad Psyche Pink, a ridiculous acid Barbie colour, and this pattern from DRK-B.

I really love the finished design, it reminds me of a sugary rainbow fish, whatever that might be lol.   I can't usually get away with pale colours, but the neon stamping made this work with my skin tone.

Fresh, summery, sugary and, quite possibly, a little bit glitterfishy :)
