#33DC Chinese - with OPI The Spy Who Loved Me

Hi Goddesses

Did you have a good weekend?   I did.  I actually feel ahead of the game for the first time in months.  I got at least 12 art manis done, launched the You Tube channel AND added a RANDOM POST button to this 'ere blog.  'Mazin.

So today is an ode to all those polishes that live in Mount Untried, and then you pull one out and squawk - "why the HELL haven't I worn that one yet?!!??!!".    Step forward OPI The Spy Who Loved Me.

TSWLM is from last year's Skyfall Collection and it is THE most perfect red I own.  I think.  I can't be sure.  There's so many of them.  And they're *listening*.

This is an amazing bright tomato / poppy red, shot through with gold shizzle.  Absolutely drop dead gorgeous.

I then stamped on top of it using a great lettering pattern from LLC-A.  Now, knowing my luck this is probably Japanese but if it is, let's keep it a secret, okay?

The gold and the red just work perfectly together.  They're also the iconic colours I think of when I think of Chinese designs - red, and then always gold somewhere.

Don't forget to check out all the other awesome ladies - I guarantee you'll find someone new to follow :) xx

#33DC Day 8 - Chevrons

Hi Goddesses

So, a little while ago (2 hours or so) you saw THIS base.

It started life as the base for this mani, but was so pretty I wanted to show if off in all its glory, which is why it got a blog post of its own.  It's a loose stroke mani featuring OPI The Spy Who Loved Me, Magnifico Mexico and Orange You Glad It's Summer.

My idea for chevrons was to do a base that was so hot it burnt the eyes, and then ice it with a super cold white topping.  I used the lovely pattern on BM-423.

I can't say that I love the finished result :(   I'm bummed the pattern is so thick, and that you can't see enough of the base, and I also don't like how my Konad white decided to get a vintage look on me - it just looks trashy.

Oh well, at least Day 9 is a corker - see you Friday!

Autumn Week - A Reddish Riot

Hi Goddesses

As I'm in 2 challenges this week, I have 2 posts to share tonight.  They are actually linked too, which is kind of neat.

I did this mani as a base and just utterly, utterly loved it.  I also love how so many of you love it when I do something that is easy, but looks great, so here's a super messy but magical splodgerama you can create yourselves.

The initial mission here was to just use 3 untrieds lol.  All 3 are OPI - The Spy Who Loved Me, Magnifico Mexico and Orange You Glad It's Summer.

I painted my nails, so that 2 fingers had 1 colour on them, 2 had another and the middle finger just had the orange.  When it was dry, I then added loose short strokes in the other 2 colours, also taking care to alternate the colour order.

The closest way I can describe my stroke pattern is that it looked like half a plait!  Short, occasional, diagonal strokes, with a little overlap, emphasis on the random.

I utterly love this mani, and you'll get to see later how it looked when I stamped over it.  Because the colours (especially The Spy Who Loved Me) are sooooo vibrant, the camera had a bit of a wobbly - suffice to say this looked even more luscious and lickable in real life :)
