Holo Month - Reeds In A Lilypad (Lacquer)

Today sees the start of holo month (there's a LOT headed your way), some SUPER simple nail art .... and a secret, but we'll save that to the end.

On base we have my new favourite brand - Lilypad Lacquer - and the divine pinkholobomb that is Bubble Yummo.  You've seen it already on the blog, but wow I can't get enough of it.

On stripes we have OPI Miami Beet, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and China Glaze Purple Panic.

I used a thin striper brush to apply my stripes at random angles, intersecting and overlapping with no distinct pattern.  To be honest, this is where I am happiest, being random :)

I loved the effect here, and the best bit?  (and the secret) ..... when I applied the first stripe, it was supposed to be vertical, and went on wonky ... and so this mani was born, as I turned my accidental wonk into deliberate randomness.  A fail, saved, and a much better mani as a result!

Swatch-a-rama - The Pink Stuff

This morning I am emptying the PINK polishes out of the vault.  There are a lot of lurkers here, most of them have been hanging around for a year, waiting for their moment in the spotlight, but it would be wrong to deprive them, wouldn't it?

We start with Cult Nails Untamed from last year's collection.  This is a pretty bubblegum pink with shimmer.

Eventually I decided this was too girly for me, but if pink is your thing, this is super pretty.

ManGlaze LesbiHonest - one of my favourite pinks.  This is a matte one coater and the colour just sizzles.

I use this so much.  It's a great polish to have for art as it's so opaque.  There is nothing I don't love about this polish.

OPI Miami Beet - wow, what a polish, and it IS the colour of beetroot juice!

Another love of mine, I use this polish a lot as a contrast.  It's also deliciously dramatic.

I've got it paired here with OPI Koala Bear-y, another perfect pink.

OPI Your Web or Mine - gah - hideous - this one should have stayed in the vault lol.

Whimsical Ideas by Pam - Nancy's Birthday.  This is a really popular and sought after polish, but I was a little underwhelmed.

Nothing to do with the polish itself, which is as lovely as you would expect from Pam, but purely because I am all CandyShop-duped out.

And finally Lynnderella - Matter of The Heart.    I bought this for the squares, but wasn't quite so crazy about it once I got it on.

And just look at this car crash!  Jeesh!

Digit-al Dozen DOES Tape Manis .... Wibbly Lines

Today and tomorrow sees some really simple tape manis, and if you are struggling with this style, or have yet to try it, it's probably where I would recommend you would start.  I'm also going to put together a Troubleshooting Post for you, so hopefully, we'll all get better!

Today's post uses some nail art stickers which I still think are my best ever nail art buy.  I've featured them loads of times before.  Good quality + cheap eBay find = magic.  They come in about 9 designs, and I really love this wibbly wobbly one.

The base for this polish was Emily de Molly's Where Boys Fear To Tread, which you saw in her solo glory HERE.  The next day, I added my nail sticker down the middle of my nail, and chose my 2 contrasting polishes.

I chose 2 OPIs - I deliberately picked cremes so that the holo would be more dramatic.  Our paler friend is OPI Sparrow Me The Drama, and the darker diva is OPI Miami Beet.  I think all 3 play really well together.
