Digit-al Dozen DOES Love and Heartbreak - Love Hearts

Hi Goddesses

This is one of those manis that literally BEGGED to be done.  The polishes lined themselves up in a little row and then jumped, one by one, onto the stamping plate, singing "meeee, meeeee".   True story.

I do love this, and whilst it's not a splodgerama (no sponge), it's as easy as pie can be.

This started as a base of Elevation Polish Alphubel.    On top of this, I then randomly dabbed various pastels - Barry M Bright Pink, Mint Green, Lemon Ice Cream and Berry Ice Cream.

I then took my white Konad polish and my stamping plate - this one comes from MJ6 which is available in the Etsy store My Online Shop (just a note, that's not MY on line shop, just the name of the store lol).

This mani is sooooo kitsch and so happy - totally cute and I love it :)

See you tomorrow, when the Digit-al Dozen meets Work Wear Wednesday! xxx

31DC Day 14 - Flowers

Hi Goddesses

I do quite a lot of flower manis.  It's one of my favourite designs, and there's something oh so cheery about them.

Usually, a flower mani involves cracking out a stamping plate, however, when you're in a Challenge with the nail art heavyweights, a tad more forethought is in order ....

So, anyway, I still cracked out a stamping plate, but this time I did it over a kick ass gradient.   This was a layer of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and then I sponged randomly - and I mean VERY randomly - with the following -

Barry M Mint Green
Barry M Berry Ice Cream
Barry M Tangerine
Barry M Shocking Pink
Sation Class Flirt

The aim was to create something messy and colourful and indistinct, so that I could stamp on top of it.

I then used Konad white and 2 small flower patterns on Cheeky plate CH16.

Overall, I'm quite happy.  It meets my cheerful criteria, and I quite like how it's white on colour, rather than the more obvious colour on white.

Enjoy xx :)

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday - Polka Dots

Hi Goddesses

On the nail art scale, polka dots are relatively easy.  So why don't I do them more often ?  Well, because some of the best patterns are more geometric, and we all know I am not good at keeping to a pattern!

However, last week, I saw this on the blog of one of my nail idols, Fingers Polish Mania -

- and as she featured my favourite colour (and one I have been neglecting too much of late, i.e. purple) the die was set :)

I did mine slightly differently, as you would expect.   I started off with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls which is the weiiiiiiiirdest polish ever.  Why?  Well because in the bottle, it's off-white, a really weird paper / marshmallow colour, and yet it goes on to the nail perfectly white.  Weird.   Really weird.

I then chose these polishes for my dots - I wanted them to be tonally similar, but sufficiently different - Barry M Berry Ice Cream, Barry M Bright Pink (that's the pink ice cream looking one), Barry M Shocking Pink and Max Factor Purple Haze.

I used a variety of dotting tools to get my effect, starting with the bigger dots, and then randomly filling in little dots at the end.

Overall, I likey, but I wonder if I missed a trick by not overlapping some of them like Fingers did.   I also did a blue version which I'll show you soon.

So how was your Monday ??  Enjoy xx :) and don't forget to check out the other amazing monkeys :)

Berry Ice Cream with Barry, his M and some dots

BARRY M – Berry Ice Cream

Hi Goddesses

I get the impression from the blogs I read, that Berry Ice Cream is the colour most people think of when they think of Barry and his M.  It’s a lush creamy blue-toned pink, and its name does sort of sum it up.

I can’t decide whether or not I like this on me.  I’m not really a pastel girl, but there is something very appealing about this colour.  It’s girly without being sickly, but there’s something about its lilac aspirations which doesn’t quite match my skin tone.

It’s quite a blue-toned pink (without being lilac), and that either works for you, or it doesn’t.  Like all Barrys, the application on this is good – but you will probably need 3 coats rather than 2, as the pastels tend to still have bald spots after 2 coats.

To liven it up, I did some crazy polka dots – how much does this remind me of summer ??!! – using Barry M Fuchsia & Bright Purple.

Enjoy J  xx

Top Tip – if you’re ever unsure what a nail colour looks like, go to Google images, which will give you plenty of contrasts and compares.
