Crumpet's Polishes of the Year 2013 - Pink

Hi Goddesses

Today I've got my favourite pink polishes of the year for you.  Pink had a bit of a resurgence for me this year.  I destashed a lot of my grandma pinks, and replaced them sizzling hot ones :) So, excluding my Big 4 brands, here are my Top 6 Pinks of the Year.

(To go to the post, just click the polish name).

Darling Diva Polish - Material Girl

This is so girly, it hurts :)  The perfect girlie pink, girlied up with girlie glitter and named after the perfect pink dress and the definitive moment of Madonna gorgeousness.

Elevation Polish - Ave Secretan

THIS is the moment I fell in love with Elevation Polish.  Elevation is a brand that is languishing in Mount Untried, otherwise I am sure more polishes would have made the end of year list.  This is a cold, hard red-fuchsia for when you need a pink at the edge of the universe.   Gorgeous.

Happy Hands - Metal Heart

There aren't THAT many polishes anymore that leave me breathless, but this was one.  An insanely gorgeous pink and purple glitter, this is just mesmerisingly gorgeous - gothic and girly at the same time.

Emily de Molly - Where Boys Fear To Tread

And this was another gasp.  When EdM released holos, I ... there were no words.  Dazzlingly bendy, this is THE perfect pink (other than Lilypads), and I should know, because I bought about 7 hot pink holos this summer.   This is a true classic.

Layla Soft Touch - Neon Pink

An unusual choice perhaps, but I really love this matte pink.  It reminds me of my grandad who used to call unusual colours "sky blue pink".  It's pink, and there's just that hint of blue shimmer too.  This is a dream to apply and a joy to wear.

w7 - Fuchsia

Remember I said I chucked out the boring and brought in the roaring?  Well, no pink roared louder this year than this pink from w7.  Super cheap - £2 - super intense.  I wore this so many times this summer - the PERFECT fuchsia.

Now - tell me yours - which pinks stole your heart this year?

Digit-al Dozen DOES Tape Manis .... Wibbly Lines

Hi Goddesses

Today and tomorrow sees some really simple tape manis, and if you are struggling with this style, or have yet to try it, it's probably where I would recommend you would start.  I'm also going to put together a Troubleshooting Post for you, so hopefully, we'll all get better!

Today's post uses some nail art stickers which I still think are my best ever nail art buy.  I've featured them loads of times before.  Good quality + cheap eBay find = magic.  They come in about 9 designs, and I really love this wibbly wobbly one.

The base for this polish was Emily de Molly's Where Boys Fear To Tread, which you saw in her solo glory HERE.  The next day, I added my nail sticker down the middle of my nail, and chose my 2 contrasting polishes.

I chose 2 OPIs - I deliberately picked cremes so that the holo would be more dramatic.  Our paler friend is OPI Sparrow Me The Drama, and the darker diva is OPI Miami Beet.  I think all 3 play really well together.

Don't forget to check out my other besties - there's some real crackers today :)  Enjoy xx

Crumpet Reviews - EMILY DE MOLLY Where Boys Fear To Tread

Hi Goddesses

How's your weekend going?  Let's start our blogging weekend with a bang shall we, and an utterly STUNNING holo, Emily de Molly's Where Boys Fear To Tread, which was sent to me for review by the amazing Sally Magpies.

I made a decision earlier this year that I wasn't going to devote a whole post to just one polish anymore, as it was too time consuming .... well, this polish has broken that rule!  This is just too amazing, beautiful, and plain breath-taking to not drool over in isolation.

As you know, I've been on quite the holo kick lately - 11 Mentality Polishes, and just this morning, 11 ILNP holos arrived, and 11 Lilypad Lacquer holos - lucky yummy me!!!! And for the longest time, well, forever, I've always held the original OPI DS series as the standard in holo making.   But I think all that is about to change.

Let's talk colour first.   One of my Holy Nail Grails has been the perfect holo pink.  Whilst I own some nice ones - HITS Athena - and some gorgeous ones have been released this summer - the mainly bubblegum pinks from Different Dimension and Girly Bits - I have never found a pink with the intensity I was craving.  Until now.

The pink on this is amazing.  In the bottle, she looks rose pink, but no, get her on the nail and all this violet amazingness comes out as well as some serious KAPOW factor.

And I think that's where this polish REALLY wins.  The BEND is extraordinary.  TRULY extraordinary.    This is a linear holo, but even so, the bend is off the charts.  And deep, very deep.

I literally haven't stopped staring at this polish since I put it on on Thursday night.  It is just transfixing.  I can't drink it in enough.  It's intense, fascinating and lush.  Just - WOW.  And maybe, just maybe, this is THE best holo formulation to ever hit the planet.

You can buy Emily de Molly in lots of places - mine came from Sally Magpies HERE.  Best of all, I have 2 more holos to show you, AND I've nail arted with them :)

Emily de Molly for Queen of the World!  Enjoy xx :)
