40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Geeks

It's Week 3 of 40 Great Nail Art Ideas, which means we're back to the themes, but before we head there, let's take a look at the final collage from teal week - it's epic!

Geeks is a great theme, and we're all geeky about so many things.  I struggled to pick what to do though, because although I am a geek, I feel I've already done nail art about things I'm geeky about - books, writing, Lost etc.

However, I then realised there is one obsession I haven't blogged about yet - IMDB or Internet Movie Database, to give it its full name.   This is a GEM of a website.  Every TV programme or film EVERRRRR is on there, and you can geek out to trivia OR just avoid a sleepless night by quickly finding out what other films that actor who was the cop's best friend has been in before.

I love it, and it's where I head after I've watched anything.   Key word there - after.  If you go part way through a TV series (Dexter, say), you might find off someone doesn't last longer than 4 series and thus ruin what must have been a magical moment if you didn't see it coming.

Oh and I can't believe I wore yellow .... although Happy Medium by Literary Lacquers is almost tolerable ;)

Digit-al Dozen DOES Florals - Literary Lacquers Field of Flowers

It's so exciting!!  This week the Digit-al Dozen are all about Florals, and I haven't been this happy with a DD week in MONTHS.  Seriously, I could pretty much do florals every day of the week.

My week starts with this field of flowers I created from 4 of the polishes in the Literary Lacquers Wrinkle In Time Collection.  You may remember me saying at the time how much I loved the way they played together, and this mani proves it.

The base is Who Which Whatsit, a glorious Kermit green, and then on top, I added Strong Steady Hand, Megatron and Happy Medium and used acetone to create a watercolour mix.  You can see my tutorial on how to do that HERE.

The colours merged beautifully, and once they were dry, I added some teeny tiny dots with black paint, to represent the centres of the flowers.

I absolutely love this kind of mani.  I love how easy it is AND how cool the finished version looks.

Literary Lacquers - Wrinkle In Time Collection part 2

Earlier today I posted the purples, grey and blue from the new Wrinkle in Time Collection, and now I have what I have dubbed “the brights”.

We start with Tesseract, a soft, off-white holo that is utterly delicate.  This is like wearing a layer of pure ice on your nails.

I am not the sort of girl who can wear white on its own, but I have been wearing this as an art base.  Also, its delicate tones make it perfect as a bridal polish.

I used 3 coats and the photos still show VNL – I think I have super sensitive VNL lol.  You couldn’t see it in real life.

Next is what I think is my very favourite of this collection – Strong Steady Hand.

Oh I looooooove this polish.  This is a crunchy holo, in that it’s laden with glitter and holographic pulses, as well as beating with that stunning orangey-coral heart.  Will you LOOK at all that gold glowiness?

I love EVERYTHING about this polish, from the life-affirming colour, to the way the polish grabs the light and hugs it tight.  This is a stunner, and you won’t ever feel under-dressed with this on your nails.

Who Which Whatsit appeared on the blog a couple of weeks ago in a Depression Awareness post, but I wanted to show her again next to her sisters.

WWW is a super-happy Kermit green holo and even *I* love it.   It’s so bright and unashamedly GREEN that it just makes me smile whenever I see it lol.

The holo is also fabulous – super bendy, maybe it’s actually trying to SMILE – and the colour is spot-on.  Total win.

And finally, Happy Medium, a yellow holo.  Well, I think you all know what I do with yellow polishes, right, but even this one, I like.  I don’t know how Amy does it – maybe there’s some special hypnotic powder that releases when you open the bottle?

This is such a happy yellow, yet not obnoxious or overpowering.  There’s a hint of subtlety here which makes it tolerable!  I will definitely be keeping this for some crazy nail art, but as you can see, if you love yellow, and you love holo, this one top scores on both accounts.
