Best of 2012 - Lilac Polishes

As I am sure you are ALL aware by now, purple is my favouritest colour, so doing 1 post for all my fave purples of the year was just NOT a goer.  Instead, I've divided it into 3 - purple polishes, purple glitters and, today, the lilacs.

I find lilac a really calm and soothing colour to wear.  In the same way that I can rely on orange to perk me up and make me smile, I can always rely on lilac to restore the equilibrium.  As before, click on the name of the polish to go to the original post with more photos.

Barry M - Prickly Pear

Silky smooth and super glossy, this was love at first swipe.  Beautiful, luscious and elegant. Love

Cult Nails - My Kind of Cool Aid

I'm pretty sure this isn't a 2012 polish, but I only got into Cult Nails this year.  This is heavenly and complicated - a deep dusty lilac with loads of shimmer.

Pretty and Polished - Tart

THE lilac glitterbomb of the year, this is confection perfection.  Light, frothy and fun, this is perfect for summer.

Butter London - Muggins

Another winner from their Spring Collection, Muggins is smooth, creamy and elegant.  Ultra glossy, super perfect.

Zoya - Megan

Cashmere in a bottle.  Super fluffy and delicate, this is the gentlest lamb of a lilac you will ever find.

Nails Inc - Charlotte Mews (coming soon)

A recent find, I have no idea when this was released.  Blue toned and creamy.  Cool and classy.

Where does lilac rate in your favourite colours to wear?  And are there any other winners I've missed out ?  I don't feel lilac was very well represented by the big brands this year - oh well, maybe 2013 will fix that !

30 Days of Purple - Day 26 - Pretty and Polished TART

Ugh, hands up if you HATE Mondays !!!  Man I despise them. I find it really hard to get going, and trying to remember what I did on Friday often seems like remembering a past life!

So it was with a big PHEW that I put the lid on today, drove home, napped for an hour, played with Bluebelle and prepared today's post.   Which day became which on this challenge was totally random, but I don't think I could have chosen anything more calming for a Monday.

TART by Pretty and Polished was on my wishlist for the longest time this year, and I just couldn't quite ever get my paws on it.  I'm glad I persevered though, because this is perfection in soooo many ways.

To be fair, it's not unique.  It's similar to Rebecca Likes Cupcakes, the famous franken that I too have made a bottle of (although the glitters are different), and it's also quite similar to Girly Bits Mother May I ? which I posted HERE.

Trying to pin down what makes this polish so perfect for me is almost impossible.  I love the creamy lilac base.  I love the glitters.  I love how yellow and red glitters really don't belong in this type of polish.  And I love how it makes me feel.  Ultimately I think it just adds up to sooooo much more than the sum of its parts.

So how does this make me feel?  Well, in a word, calm.  There is something serene and soothing about this polish, without it being Mogadon-dull.  The lilac base gives it an aura of tranquility, whilst the glitter gives it one foot in the quirky jar.

Pretty perfect for me.  And DAMN perfect for beating those Monday blues!
