ILNP - A Touch of Mint

Sometimes, I literally astound myself.  Like a lot of you, I bought the ILNP ultra holos when they first came out, way back in June (?).    I swatched them pretty quickly .... and only now, 6 months later do they end up on the blog.  No, I have no idea why either.

Today we have one of the ultra holos that ILNP released last summer, with a little bit of crazy zebra stamping!

A Touch of Mint is a lovely shade - calm and cooling, it's one of those polishes that will never grow old.

It's not too green, and not too stark, making it beautifully delicate.

The holo in this is subtle, as befits this colour - anything more and I think the perfection of the colour would have been lost.

I then wanted to do some colour clash stamping, so I picked up a Konad Fuchsia and this zebra pattern from Cheeky Plate 9 - Wild At Heart.

Mint and fuchsia just work so well together - one is cool, the other hot; one is fragile, the other bold.  The pay off is great, although I think I might run if I saw this creature in real life lol.

Digit-al Dozen DOES Fashion - My Green Cow Top!

I'm ending my week with my favourite mani, and the one that was the easiest to do.  This one is modelled on a green top I own (although I don't get on with green polish, I have green eyes and green really suits me).

I used Barry M Spring Green and the cow stamp from the Cheeky Jumbo Plate 9 - Wild At Heart.

This looked absolutely fierce.  It was so bold and so striking, and I was very proud that although I didn't wear it to work on the same day as my top, people still saw the connection.

My only sadness is the photos.  The light has really blanched out some of the more emerald tones of the polish, so the photos are a slightly lightened version of what I was actually wearing.  It doesn't make too much difference, but it annoyed me none the less!

That concludes this week's Digit-al Dozen.  Next month is our 1 year anniversary .... hhhmmmmm, I wonder what we might have up our sleeves?

Digit-al Dozen DOES Fashion - Leopard Print Flip Flops

Sorry that I am posting so late tonight.  Beth and I have had an epic day out with her beloved Auntie Fluffy, and I am super in love with my purchases, which I will show you over the weekend.

Today's post was the last mani I did for Fashion Week.  Sometimes, you look and you look, and you just can't find the right pattern, and then other days, you look, and you find inspiration in the weirdest of places.

So yes, today is inspired by a pair of flip flops lol.   I think most of us love leopard print, and it's hard to resist when that also involves more than 1 colour.  I also liked that the colours were pastel, as that's not a colour scheme you usually associate with a violent carnivore lol.

Above you see my polishes, and also the base.  This was done by painting each nail one of the 5 colours, and then adding random colour blocking and brush strokes.  With hindsight, I really wish I had used more lemon.  It's a colour I hate, but there's no denying that it helps the pattern pop more - a great example of how sometimes you have to go against your gut for the best results.

The stamping this time was from a stamping plate, the Wild At Heart Cheeky Jumbo Plate 9.  Usually I freehand, but I wanted this mani to have uniformity.   Finally, a little bit of white acrylic to colour in some of the spots.

Overall, despite the use of pukey pastels, I really like this mani.  It also features one of my favourite nail art tricks - a multi-coloured base.  They are not difficult to do, and really help a mani add up to so much more than the sum of its parts.
