My First Blobbicure - with Literary Lacquers

I'd been desperate to try a blobbicure for a little while - it's a style that seems to have Crumpet written all over it lol.  Basically, it's another random style, so it's right up my street.

I am obviously missing something technique-wise because I'm not yet getting the results I want, but they look so lovely, I am happy to practice.

For this mani, I used 2 Literary Lacquers colours - Swallowed Up In Blue and Megatron.

A Blobbicure involves dropping polish onto a wet base - the polish "blob" then spreads, and if you're lucky, you get an awesome pebbled pattern.

As I say, I'm going wrong somewhere, because I feel I end up just dotting to fill in the spaces, so more research for me!

That said, I still like this :)

Digit-al Dozen DOES Florals - Literary Lacquers Field of Flowers

It's so exciting!!  This week the Digit-al Dozen are all about Florals, and I haven't been this happy with a DD week in MONTHS.  Seriously, I could pretty much do florals every day of the week.

My week starts with this field of flowers I created from 4 of the polishes in the Literary Lacquers Wrinkle In Time Collection.  You may remember me saying at the time how much I loved the way they played together, and this mani proves it.

The base is Who Which Whatsit, a glorious Kermit green, and then on top, I added Strong Steady Hand, Megatron and Happy Medium and used acetone to create a watercolour mix.  You can see my tutorial on how to do that HERE.

The colours merged beautifully, and once they were dry, I added some teeny tiny dots with black paint, to represent the centres of the flowers.

I absolutely love this kind of mani.  I love how easy it is AND how cool the finished version looks.

Literary Lacquers Skittle - Aunt Beast meets Megatron

As I've mentioned, I had the best time a few weeks ago playing with the new Wrinkle In Time collection from Literary Lacquers.  All the polishes play with each other so nicely that nail art was BOUND to happen.

This is the first of many, and it's so simple, it might just be my favourite.

This features Aunt Beast and the purple drama of Megatron (which is slightly muted by sitting on Auntie's base).   I especially love how gritty Aunt Beast looks in these photos.  She's completely smooth to the touch, but I love how she looks a little bit dirty.

I did some zig zag chevrons using my nail stickers, and then did something I don't often do - picked out some matching rhinestones for the other nails.

Top tip - I obeyed the Nailasaurus and used tweezers to place my stickers.  It really was easier, and much simpler to get them to move 1mm to the left too!

Literary Lacquers - Wrinkle In Time Collection part 1

Today we have half of Literary Lacquers most recent collection on the blog, with the 2^nd half following very quickly.

Without a doubt, the Wrinkle In Time collection is my very favourite that Amy has done.  Are the polishes better?  Actually, they probably are, but I’ll come to that later.  What really makes this collection stand out though, is how beautifully the polishes play together, as if they were made to be merged.  So the good news is, at some point, there’s a whole week of Literary Lacquer nail art coming your way!

Today we look at the purpley colours, the grey and the gorgeous blue.  First up is Aunt Beast which you first saw in Dotting Week.  This is a really bewitching polish, part grey, part taupe, part moon crumbs.

This is a really unusual colour, and also changes slightly in different lighting.  There’s definitely something extra-terrestrial about it, and I love the darker flecks in it too.

I guarantee you won’t have anything else like this in your collection.

Camazotz was the one I left til the end, the “what am I going to do with you” one.  In the bottle it looked a very uninspiring charcoal, and I wasn’t drawn to it.

On the nail though, all these dark purple tones began to spill out like Maleficent’s blood.

This is a perfect Halloween polish – it’s dark, it’s smudgy, it’s slightly secretive in releasing that purple vibe – it’s soooo deliciously witchy, I love it.

Megatron is a delicious purple holo, and at first look, I thought this would be very similar to the er many other purple holos I own.

However, this is purple holo turned up to 11.  As you can see from the photos, the bend in this is utterly spectacular – there’s almost a permanent ring of flame visible within the purple yumminess.

And then there’s those flakies, just bumping it further into Spectacular-Land.  Yup, there’s purple holos, and then there’s Megatron.

The final polish in this post is the super cute Swallowed Up In Blue.  This was probably the polish I was most drawn to initially, for its perfect tones of baby blue softness and that rich splendour of shimmer.

This may be my perfect soft blue.   The holo is delicious but not overpowering, and the shimmer just gives it another edge of beauty (even though it was hiding well in some of these photos).
