The Northern Lights in the Messy Mansion

Hi Goddesses

Today we have possibly my best stamping mani EVER, and as is so often the case, it was a complete accident lol.

I am currently obsessed with the MM20 plate from Messy Mansion, and I don't need much / any excuse to plonk it on top of something.  When I did my Northern Lights mani for Digit-al Dozen the other week, it practically BEGGED me to stamp over it lol.

This is one of those finished results that is so much more than the sum of its parts.  Whilst the base was glorious in its own right, the addition of the stamping cranks it up a notch, and gives it an air of complexity it doesn't really have.

I totally loved this mani - shame it had to come off an hour later for something else!

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Countries - Northern Lights

Hi Goddesses

You may have seen my joke mani for DD Week featuring a white mani as the Antarctic.   Bizarrely, a joke provided some inspiration, and as I thought about polar regions I thought of the Northern Lights and saw this photo on Google.

It appealed to my artistic sensibilities, such as they are.  Requirement for precision?  Low.  Opportunity to slop polish on randomly?  High.  Done.

For my base, I used the matte base of Barry M Espresso, and then I picked my Northern Lights.  I ended up settling for 3 Lilypad Lacquers - Slimey Limey, She's All That and Bubble Yummo.

Because I wanted a streaky effect and didn't want the colour to be too saturated, I mixed my polishes with top coat to thin them out.  I lined them up as if I were doing a gradient, looked for my fan brush, couldn't find it, gggggrrrr'd, picked up the largest brush I could find, and applied the polish in vertical lines.  I then added extra pink on top to create the effect seen in the original photo.

It's a really simple technique that created quite a spectacular mani - next week you'll see this as the base to possibly the best stamping mani I have ever done.

Bravo for the Northern Lights!   Don't forget to check out the other ladies :)

Lilypad Lacquer - Slimey Limey

Hi Goddesses

As some of you know, I have a hot and heavy love affair with Lilypad Lacquer, and a couple of months ago, Nicole sent me some polishes for review.  Unfortunately, it coincided with my "break", and it's taken me a shameful length of time to get to them.  However, getting to them I am, so prepare for lots of holo-tastic fun over the next couple of weeks.

We kick off today with Slimey Limey, which is just SO obnoxiously green that it should come with a pair of sunglasses.

There is nothing apologetic about this polish whatsoever. It's green and it knows it is AND IT HAS ITS STRUT ON lol.  The holo is fairly subtle, which I think is a wise move.  My camera barely coped with the colour, any more holo and I think it would have blown up!

Yes, my camera.  It flinches at some colours, so in real life this is maybe one click darker/deeper than what you're seeing here.  It's not a green that has a place in nature lol, but it's pretty close to Kermit.

I then added some black dots for no other reason than I thought that was a mani a witch might wear.  Something about green and black is very witchy for me.

Even though this tone of green and me don't go hand in hand, I loved the kookiness of this mani and how pale it made my hands look!  It appealed to my inner witch ... the mean one lol.

You can follow Lilypad Lacquer on Facebook HERE and buy buy buy HERE.    In the UK, you can scoop em up at Sally Magpies.  This polish was sent to me for an honest review.

Super Bright Leopard Nail Art

Hi Goddesses

Let's face it, none of us like Mondays.  Although I start work early, I don't really function on a Monday until I've had my lunch - and WHY is it so hard to remember what you did on Friday afternoon?

So, to banish the Monday WaaWaas, what better than an obnoxiously bright mani, featuring some of my favourite brands?

This is super easy nail art - a skittle, some white blobs with a dotting tool, and then some incomplete black edging with a thin dotting tool.  Simples :)

The quintet of gorgeous are -
thumb - Delush Polish - Delushous Goddess
index - Lilypad Lacquer - Slimey Limey
middle - Indigo Bananas - Twice As Bright
ring - Indigo Bananas - Klein Trink Wasser
pinkie - Delush Polish - Midas Touch

It was accidental, but I also love how the range of finishes adds a little something extra to this mani.

Happy Monday!
