piCture pOlish Monday - Denim - Then and Now

Hi Goddesses

Today's piCture pOlish Monday is also an excuse to have a bit of a laugh in a Then and Now post :)

I "think" Denim was one of the first PP polishes I bought - it's just such a lovely blue: soft, intense, medium hued.  In many ways, it's blue perfection.  It's also pretty much a dead on dupe for Essie Smooth Sailing.

Denim takes its lushness not just from the beauty of that colour, but also from the flakie goodness scattered within, giving it a flecked, snagged appearance (a bit like denim.  Woah!).

There's also this gorgeous shimmer going on too. So soft, so delicate - just sublime.

In all my blues, and somehow I seem to have amassed A LOT, this is one of my favourites.  It's just lovely.

So, when did Denim first appear on this blog?  Well, almost exactly a year ago, in April 2012, although I'm sure I'd owned the polish longer than that.

All you got was a straight swatch, with that rounded nail shape.  Photos starting to get better.  Not tooooo grim, but not awesomulous either :)

Either way - enjoy !!!

Picture Polish DENIM

Hi Goddesses

As you may have worked out, I am in the middle of a love affair with Picture Polish.  It's an upmarket Aussie brand, and it does sensational colours and finishes ... oh and Ozotics.

Denim is a polish that had been on my radar for a while, even before the evil people converted me to blue.  There was just something very appealing about it's shade and texture, and I thought I might buy it as one of my "rare blues".

Well several months and dozens of blues later, here it is, in my little paw.   Isn't it a gorgeous colour?   It's a deep dark cornflower blue, but with just a hint of something indigo going on.

It also has lots of white flecks in it - which give it the demin texture - and a CRAZY amount of bluish indigo shimmer.   The shimmer is subtle but adds intensity to the virbancy of the colour - this is an extreme medium blue.

It's also very reminiscent of Essie Smooth Sailing, and very shortly I'll put up a comparison post on that.  For now, all that you need to know is that Denim is a perfect blend of colour, texture, and desire.

Intense :)  xx Enjoy :)

Spring Challenge - Stripes

Hi Goddesses

Ugh I am a sucky Crumpet.  A really bad, slack, sucky Crumpet.  This is yesterday's post, but I'm a bit behind.  I have about 50 sets of photos in the crop slash write-a-post bucket.  Yup, 50.  I believe I have bitten off more than I can chew lol.  So that's been a bit daunting (plus it takes ages to find the pics I want lol) AND I've been stressed and budy at work, which means I have got behind rather than ahead.   Siiiiiiigh.

So belatedly, here are my nothing-special Spring stripes which I did a couple of weeks ago.   I wanted to do something different, and decided to sponge on the stripes - unfortunately even with an eyeshadow applicator, these went on thicker than I wanted.

The base is Picture Polish Denim which is super gorgeous and coming to a "crop slash write-a-post bucket" near you soon.  The sponging was with Models Own Beth's Blue, one of my faves (I just love it's faint lilac tinge).

To spice it up, I layered over a coat of Dollish Polish Super Bass, a superb peacock blend of bright blue and bright purple micro glitter.  It's one of those things that didn't make much difference, yet made all the difference in the world, if that makes sense.  I love it 10 times more with Super Bass on top.

Some of you may recognise this as the base of a stamping pattern I did a couple of weeks ago - and THAT'S how I ended up with my backlog.  I can often manage to get 4 variations out of 1 mani, and then they just er pile up, cos I end up with more manis than I had days.

Right lol - off to crop !!

Enjoy xxx :)
