Spring Mermaid Dotticure

Hi Goddesses

Quite a while ago, before car crashes and death's-door pussycats, I was on a pastel kick.  I had assembled a group of pastels which inspired me with their pink-peach-and green subtlety.

Since then I've bought Jessica pastels and the Color Club Pastel Neons, but not had chance to play with either, so for now, let's rejoice in how prettily these polishes play together.

This is a simple mermaid dotticure using 8 polishes lol.  I know that doesn't SOUND simple, but once you get going, it kinda is, and the rhythmn just keeps you going.

I really like how this turned out - it's like petals falling on nails.   And just wait til you see how it looked when I stamped on it :)

Digit-al Dozen DOES Nature - Birds of a Feather

Hi Goddesses

Happy Hump Day and welcome to a mani which ALMOST became part of last month's Pattern on Pattern DD Challenge.

The base for this mani is this gorgeous feathered stamping I did as part of the January 31DC using the EPIC Messy Mansion MM14 plate.

Said plate also features a stamp of birds on a wire, and it was too irresistible to not overlap them.

I'm not overly successful when it comes to double stamping (there are some crazy good ladies out there), but I really feel I nailed it with this one.

Digit-al Dozen DOES Patterns on Patterns - Stripes n Roses

Hi Goddesses

And welcome to a week I've really been looking forward to!  This week is Patterns on Patterns Week on DD, and I've LOVED this theme so much - so much that there's a lot of P on P action coming up beyond this week!

It's also really rare that I find a theme easy and the other girls find it hard, so either they've got something super wow and complicated coming up .. or mine are going to be dull in comparison!

Today I have some bright roses over messy stripes.  The base is Barry M Sugar Apple, with stripes of Coconut.

The roses started as a mixture of w7 Powder Pink and Rimmel Instyle Coral to get the perfect shade.  The petal edges were added with Jessica My Cabana Boy.

I love the overall effect of this mani - it's bright and cheerful and super springlike.  Don't forget to check out what everyone else got up to today!

31DC2015 Day 24 - Decals

Hi Goddesses

Decals.  Oh boy oh boy oh boy.  I've tried them once or twice before, and it wasn't good lol.  But they look so amazing on every one else!  How is this possible!  So I put the prompt in the challenge to force me to have another go.  Yeh, still not good.

Since I did this mani, I have received the wise counsel of some friends, so I hope my NEXT attempt will be better.

I used the decals on a plastic bag method, and here were my problems -

- I don't think I used the right colours
- you can see my brushstrokes :(
- the decal was quite brittle and tore in a couple of places as I put it on the nail (you can see this best on the middle nail)
- oh clean up - mess mess mess

So if I hate it so much, why am I blogging it?  Well, because we all start somewhere.  Maybe it's your first decal attempt, and yours look like shit too, or maybe in a few months I'll be awesome at it, and we'll be able to laugh at this post and learn where it was all going wrong.

That said, I love the base, which was a semi-splodge of Barry M Lemon Ice Cream and Sugar Apple, the plate (Vivid Lacquer 036), and I love how the matte top coat made the whole design look a little like fabric.

First step next time - pick better colours!
