Zombie Snot - you asked for it!

Nails I Love

FRANKENING ….. Zombie Snot !!  Achoooo!

Hi Goddesses

A couple of weeks ago, I posted my Zombie Blood mani for PAA, and quite a few people (the legendary Nail Nerd included) commented that it also looked a lot like a zombie had sneezed on my nails J  Beth found this hilarious, and when we next sat down to franken, her only answer to the question of “what shall we make” was “Zombie Snot” !

Lol .. I’d love to blame it all on her, really I would, but I, the adult, was with her every step of the way J  You can see the concoction is quite transparent on the nail, like real snot, and the glitter *could* be bogies, right ?

We started with an opalescent Essence mini varnish and added about 5 drops of China Glaze Starboard to it.  I’m really pleased how this blended – exactly the right sort of gruesome colour.  We then added a gulp of 2 KleanColors – Peaceful Heart (a clear greeny jelly with large glitter peces) and Firework, an intense glitterbomb of gold, turquoise and orange.

I then played around some more, as you do, and layered the snot over some greeny colours – OPI Stranger Tides, Starboard, Zoya Dree and Color Club Twiggie.

I really like how it turned out as a layering polish.

So what’s your favourite – Zombie Snot, or Zombie Blood lol ?

Enjoy xx achooo J

Nail Fun - Rawk Star mani

Nail Fun

ROCK STAR MANI !!!!!!!

Hi Goddesses

So, this week’s theme for PAA was Rock Star Mani, a phrase that conjures up so many glitterbombs and clashing dramatic colours J  I hadn’t quite decided what I was going to do for mine, but thought it might involve purple (obviously), glitter (obviously) and probably black shatter (which I am loving a LOT more now we’re headed for winter).

I ended up with this spectacular and I LOVES!!  I told you last post ( xxx ) how I wasn’t so keen on DS Temptation, but how eventually she redeemed herself, and this is how she did it …

I’m a big believer in playing with your mani before you take it off.  It gives you a better chance to experiment than a nail wheel and sometimes, you get an extra day out of what you are wearing.  And that’s where this one started.  My current first port of call for “hhhmm, let’s see what that looks like” is my KLEANCOLOR chunky holos, so on the left hand, I painted the thumb, middle and little finger with Chunky Holo Purple.

I LOVE how this turned out. I love the little sparkles of green and orange – they seem to add to the statements Temptation is already making.  Also, this gave Temptation a much smoother and less gritty appearance than the Poshe did …. Hhhhhmmm.

Then, I layered over the Black Shatter.  Personally, I prefer China Glaze, but whichever one you love the most is the most important factor here.

I love love love.  This reminds me of some demented black widow spider, too.  Don’t ask me why!  Maybe it’s something to do with the shatter looking a bit like a web.  Anyway, there’s something about this particular purple and the shatter that just ROCKS.

I particularly love the nails where I used the KLEANCOLOR – they’ve just got that little bit more sparkle going on.

All I know is, if I was taking to the stage wearing this, I’d feel in the perfect mood to rock out to JUST LIKE A PILL by Pink.

What are you rocking out to with your mani ??

Nails I Love - Pure Ice JACKPOT

Nails I Love

PURE ICE – Jackpot

Hello Goddesses.  Today is a short post, but a happy one.  How bright and cheerful is this polish ??

This is Pure Ice’s Jackpot.  It’s a gorgeous bright pink, but not overpowering, not neon, and not one that requires sunglasses (and therefore it fits my criteria lol).

It’s super shiny and applied really smoothly.    For me, this is the perfect shade of fuchsia.  Looking at this makes me smile.

You can’t really see it in the photos, but this has tiny – and I mean tiiiiiiiiiny – glass flecks in it, which just give it that bit of extra dazzle.  For me, this is the real winner, as I found the flecks in China Glaze’s Strawberry Fields too much.

Then, just for fun, I layered some KleanColor Fuschia Glitter over it.  In the bottle, it’s a sheer raspberry crammed with multi-sized pieces of glitter which I thought were multi-coloured.  On the nail, you can tell they’re not, they’re all silver (it was the raspberry sheerness that made some of them seem pink).

I think this looks like pure happiness.  A lovely happy pink with little bits of fairy glitter.  Super girlie J

Enjoy J

NAILS I LOVE - Zoya -REA

Nails I Love

ZOYA – Rea

Zoya Rea is a metallic medium iced grape that has depth, shine and ooh la la.  Not my normal colour, this is a keeper partly due to its versatility – this is great for being arty with due to its different texture.

Each nail looks like it is filled with a million particles of iced plum delight, a meringue shine of fluffy grittiness, with aluminium, grape, lavender and cloud all swirled into the mix.

This is very much a sister to Marina, Tao and Harley, sharing their cashmere depth and metallic gleam.  Colour-wise it’s a dark mauve, a light grape, a pastel aubergine, a shimmery glimmer of multiple tones that give it that deep fuzzy layered look.

For a bit of fun, I then layered it with KleanColor PARTY FEVER, a jelly of fine raspberry glitter and blue, gold and violet sequins.

Have fun my lovelies J

NAILS I LOVE - Sinful Colors - DADDY'S GIRL

Nails I Love

Nails I Love is written to celebrate some of the most beautiful nail varnishes on earth and to help you choose which colours and styles will suit you.

Each posting will feature details about the colour as well as photos.  I guarantee every photo will show the varnish as it looks on your fingers, otherwise, what’s the point ?

Top Tip – if you’re ever unsure what a nail colour looks like, go to Google images, which will give you plenty of contrasts and compares.

SINFUL COLORS – Daddy’s Girl

…or, The Disappointment That Turned To Triumph.

Just look at the bottle and that colour.  Isn’t it amazing ?  Isn’t it the darkest, most devilish, Halloweeniest purple you’ve ever seen ?  Dark midnight base, flashes of violet, gold electro-static – could anything ever look as gorgeous?

No.  On the nail, Daddy’s Girls was SUCH a disappointment.  Don’t get me wrong, it was still beautiful in its own way, but just Not Like The Bottle.  The darkness just doesn’t translate.  On the nail, this became an electric violet, still WOW, but just Not Like The Bottle.

This applies about 5 shades lighter than the bottle, and also is extremely thin.  I needed 3 coats and I STILL have VNL in certain lights.  Next time I might layer it over Zoya Pinta to try and recreate the bottle J

Don’t get me wrong, this is still fabulously witchy, very glam, very devilish, just … yeh, yeh, but the bottle is my perfect purple, hence my despair.

So, I decided to have a little bit of fun before I took it off, inspired by Let Them Have Polish.  She did a Grape, Set & Match and Wing It! Combo, and as Daddy’s Girl isn’t a million miles different from Grape, I decided to add some irregular pink tips.  (this is her post - http://www.letthemhavepolish.com/2011/08/opi-wing-it-grape-set-match-spongy.html)

So far, so meh.  But THEN, oh then I added KleanColor AURORA to half the nail (and heavier at the tip) and Oh My God, some serious magic occurred.  In the bottle, Aurora is a girlie baby pink glitter.  On the nail .. she turns holographic, the glitter turns gold and green and blue and, oh my, she makes me lose my breath.

So randomly, I ended up with something that just reminds me of an Arabian night.  I can see sheer violet harem pants and lots of gold chains and a marquee style tent.  Love it.

If you haven’t discovered KleanColor yet, do it NOW!  They’re cheap but amazing.  Go on, put some sparkle in your life J

Have fun my lovelies.
