Summer Challenge Day 38 - Tour de France

This weekend also sees the culmination of the Tour de France, the world's hardest sporting event in my opinion, and a genuine test of endurance.  Pleasingly, it might be won by a Brit, Bradley Wiggins, just a few days before London 2012 kicks off :)

For a girl, I actually know quite a lot about Le Tour, mainly because my ex husband was a bike rider in his youth and his sporting god was Lance Armstrong.   Even several years after our divorce, Lance's story still fascinates me, but now I hope rather than believe that all the drug allegations are false.   Sad times.

I had no idea what I was going to do for these nails, but then just in the nick of time, my amazing swap package arrived from Meann at My Online Shop.  And what stamp should there happen to be on MJ2 ?  Yes, bikes!!  Now, I'll admit they probably never did Le Tour on penny farthings, but look!!  Bikes !!!

Once I knew this would be a straightforward stamping mani, I decided to skittle the bases.  We have the famous yellow jersey which the leader where, the spotted jersey, the green jersey and the white jersey.   The thumb was done in Color Club Revvvolution to represent the road.

I feel I should apologise for the photos - none of them seem crisp to me.  I took them in the bathroom which sometimes has strange light, and I think that's the cause.

Day 16 – Fairy Lights

I’ve had a few differing ideas for this one, and in the end just got a bit muddled and could not decide which idea to go with.  I knew I wanted my lights to just be dots, but I have LOVED the manis I’ve seen where they have done lights on the wire – they have been awesome.

So, 5 nails, 3 bases.  Thumb and pinkie are based in CC Revvvolution, middle finger is CG Glittering Garland, and index and ring fingers are CG Cosmic – a black with silver glitter.  All were 1 coaters.  I was tempted to add a 2^nd, but didn’t want to create too much dazzle for my lights to compete with!

The thumb and index finger are basically dot patterns, made with a variety of CG Twinkle Lights (how could I do this mani without using that) and CC Worth The Risque and Fashion Addict.  I picked dark backgrounds to represent the outdoor lights people do.

On the ring finger I took this a stage further.  We have some crazy people near us to do unbelievable Christmas displays in their gardens, so this is an example of one that I see regularly – a twinkle light Snowman, with hat of course.

Little finger is the word XMAS – my first real writing – haza!

And then the middle finger, possibly my fave, just CG Glittering Garland and CG Twinkle Lights to represent the lights on the Christmas Tree.

I quite like this, but I wish the thumb and index weren’t quite so similar – in my head they were going to look more different, but it didn’t quite happen!
