Hi Goddesses
I feel like today is the start of part 2 of the challenge, even though we're 2/3 of the way through. I had a real head of steam going, and then I broke my ring nail. After doing Days 21 & 22 with an uber-nub, I decided on a 31DC timeout, and from today onwards, you get to see stuff I've done this week.
Today sees your first look at something I've called The Scribble. I'm going to be working on my brush work A LOT over the next few weeks, and today's mani was a really good excuse to crack out one of my new nail brushes and just have fun!
I've got 3 Illamasqua polishes on the go here - Obsess, Vice and Ruthles - and I love how they combine. I don't know if it's the base, but this mani just seems to POP.
This look evolved as I worked on it, so I'll explain the technique more next time, but overall, this is random and perfect - the Crumpet version of how to do lines lol.
Hi Goddesses
It's been a busy Sunday in the nail room preparing for Halloween. I have some cool and ghoulish designs for you, but first, something a little prettier.
You may remember this gradient from a couple of weeks ago, featuring Illamasqua Poke, Ruthless and Obsess. I absolutely loved it, and the drama of it, and started turning my hand this way and that and then this way and that way .....
Purple always draws me to my witchy heart, and I decided this gradient was something a witch might do to glam up a little on date night, or disco night :)
I thought she'd also stay a little gothic, so I drew some chunky spiderweb patterns over the top, so that any wizard who hit on her would know who would end up tangled in whose web :)
There's just something about this that makes me smile, but whether it's the mani or the whole soap opera I've made up behind it, who knows!
Hi Goddesses
Firstly, can I say how exciting is it to see so many of you take part in our new challenge. It's been really interesting to see how you have played it - whether you've combined the themes, or done them separately.
For now, I'm continuing to do them separately, and this week's Pattern prompt is 3-colour gradient.
For my colours I chose 3 Illasmasqua lovelies -
* Ruthless - red
* Poke - purple
* Obsess - pink
I did a sloppy gradient with these 3 and I loved how they smooshed together. There's something very happy about his colour combo that makes me go ooooooh.
Don't forget to check out all the other brilliant ladies in the challenge.
Hi Goddesses
Two nail art posts in one day! Here's a lovely swirly thing I did a couple of weeks ago.
For my white base, there was only one choice - OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I've been obsessed with it since it came out, and I don't really see that ever changing.
For the pattern, I was desperate to use one of my new nail art brushes - the 21 Dance. It served itself and me really well. It's got a heavier heft than most brushes, and I liked that. It also gave me as much control as I wanted.
For the swirls I chose 3 Illamasquas which have been sitting in the untried pile since I bought them on offer last summer -
Obsess - the bright pink
Velocity - the stunning greyish purple
Vice - the burgundy
Previously, when I've done swirls, I've left no visible background, but as that would have defeated the object of this prompt, I decided to create just one swirl, but to change the colour of the swirl part way through.
For added variety, I also made sure each colour had a chance to start the swirl.
I was really happy with how these turned out, and the possibilities are ENDLESS, endless I say!
