Digit-al Dozen DOES Nature - The Leafiness of a Leaf

Hi Goddesses

And welcome to a tale of a mani which did not start out this way, or with this intention, but which I still think is pretty cool!

The base of this mani is a green distressed mani I did for the 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge a few weeks ago.  It features the incredible Different Dimension Light Year on base, the gold of which completely steals the show here.

It's playing nicely with Jardim Botanico by Pahlish and My Dogsled Is A Hybrid by OPI.

The stamping is a from Vivid Lacquer VL033, a gorgeous plate featuring a mixture of floral and butterfly designs.  Now, I suspect this image is actually the intricacies of a butterfly's wings, but in green, on a green base, it suddenly looked like the inner scaffolding of a leaf.

#52WPNMC Distressed Nails with Different Dimension LIGHT YEAR

Hi Goddesses

Thank God I will be caught up by the end of the year lol! Here is the first of 3 52 Week Challenge posts I have for you over the next 3 days.

Today's prompt is Distressed, which is a style I love, both for a mani itself AND for an art or stamping base.  It involves using polishes with the brush almost starved of polish, so that you get a very streaky effect.

My only dilemma was which colours to use, and it occured to me that I hadn't seen a monochromatic version, so I checked my box of birthday polishes and pulled out 3 stunners -

- Light Year by Different Dimension, an amazing muted beigey green with gold shimmer (shimmers are always good to use in this sort of mani)
- OPI My Dogsled Is A Hybrid as my medium shade and
- Pahlish Jardim Botanico as the final darker shade

Unfortunately, my medium and dark green didin't have as much differentiation as I wanted, and in some photos it is hard to tell there's even 3 polishes at play!

I went back over with more Light Year to try and interrupt the greeniness, and again, that gold shimmer was worth its weight in gold.  For me this has a very antique vibe that I LOVE.

The Digit-al Dozen 2nd Anniversary - Cotton

Hi Goddesses

Today’s theme for the Digit-al Dozen is cotton, because you get cotton on your 2nd wedding anniversary.

From the get-go, I knew a texture polish would be putting in some stripes somewhere, but was a bit baffled as to the rest.  I had the MoYou Fashionista plate, but none of that called to me, and although I found some awesome images of cotton reels on Google, they were too bright, and I always saw this as a very white / beige mani.

 cotton - Google Search

In the end, I stumbled over this awesome logo for cotton.  I loved the neutral tones AND the simple design, and a winner was born lol.  I’d also just received my awesome new Different Dimension polishes that morning, which gave me the perfect opportunity to test 2 out.

Polishes used –

* Texture comes from Sally Hansen Sugar Fix.  You really can’t go wrong with these.  They’re cheap, and great.
* The amazing shimmers are Different Dimension – Light Year on the index, and Speed of Light on the middle
* The ring finger has a base of Barry M Coconut Gelly, with the SH texture on top
* And the pinkie – is cotton wool!  Hello, Santa lol

My favourite nail is the one I first thought of – the ring finger.  I love how the textured stripes play off the plain and shiny base.
