Digit-al Dozen DOES Food .... Pineapples!

For the most part, this week is brought to you by Pinterest!  I have so many boards on there, and that's the first place I turned when I was deciding what to do this week.

This is a classic case of a really cute pattern, and me not loving my mani because it's not close ENOUGH to the pattern - dammit, I wanted DUMPY pineapples!

Still, at least it's freehand, and at one point I was really worried this week was going to be all about the stamping lol!

I used the following polishes - 

base - the gorgeous Limestone by Elevation Polish.  I do loved flecked polishes on base!
pineapple - China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin with China Glaze Desert Sun markings
pineapple head - Girly Bits Hooperchondriac and Barry M Spring Green
dots - Elevation Polish The Med 2, a MoYou stamping polish and Barry M Spring Green

If I was the sort of person to redo this mani, I wouldn't go with Hooperchondriac again for the pineapple head - for me, it's a little too neon, and throws off the other more muted colours in the mani.  I'm also not so thrilled with my dots - I think better colour choices are demanded lol.

31DC2015 Day 20 - Rainbow

I had a mixture of ideas for this one, and wasn't sure which way to go, and then I remembered THIS amazing mani from my DD alum, Hannah, from Dalai Llama Nails.

I loved the simplicity and the originality of this mani, plus the messy ikat design.

I chose my rainbow of colours - 

Powder Perfect Lorelei
Barry M Blueberry
Barry M Spring Green
Barry M Yellow
Essie Orange It's Obvious
Barry M Blood Orange

This is such a simple but gorgeous mani.  Super easy to do - shaggy brush strokes is all that's required.

I loved Hannah's matte version, but I think I might prefer the glossy version even more.  This just screams happiness to me.

Digit-al Dozen DOES Fashion - My Green Cow Top!

Hi Goddesses

I'm ending my week with my favourite mani, and the one that was the easiest to do.  This one is modelled on a green top I own (although I don't get on with green polish, I have green eyes and green really suits me).

I used Barry M Spring Green and the cow stamp from the Cheeky Jumbo Plate 9 - Wild At Heart.

This looked absolutely fierce.  It was so bold and so striking, and I was very proud that although I didn't wear it to work on the same day as my top, people still saw the connection.

My only sadness is the photos.  The light has really blanched out some of the more emerald tones of the polish, so the photos are a slightly lightened version of what I was actually wearing.  It doesn't make too much difference, but it annoyed me none the less!

That concludes this week's Digit-al Dozen.  Next month is our 1 year anniversary .... hhhmmmmm, I wonder what we might have up our sleeves?

Digit-al Dozen DOES ..... Art ..... Comic Books

Thank GOD we are getting towards the end of this challenge lol.  It has been gruelling, but, not for the others it would seem.  They have been posting some amazing stuff, so please take the time to check them out at the bottom of the post.

Today's nails were an accident.  I had done my 5 art manis, and whilst I was looking for a stamping plate for the 31DC, stumbled across Cheeky CH47, a crazy little plate filled with Comic Book slogans such as Pow and Bang  and Bam.

I felt that comic book nails deserved bright primary colours,  mainly Barry Ms - Blood Orange, (KIKO 336), Shocking Pink, Block Orange and Spring Green.

As I started stamping with the white, there seemed to be too much blank space, so I decided to dab on a few patches of black polish and then stamp over the black, mainly to get a little variety.  It was one of those whimsical decisions that makes a lot of difference, and really takes it to the comic book level, where you regularly see the white text on a black background.

So that leaves me with 2 manis to choose from for tomorrow, both of which I am meh about - the blue cubism mani and the Japanese Screenprint mani.  I think I'm gonna go with the latter, but you never know lol.

NEW31DC Day 9 - Saran Wrap

Today's mani is a total mish-mash, and a great example of what can happen when you just *play* with your polishes with no end goal in sight.

I've been pretty obsessed with colour clashes lately, so a lot of this challenge has been about mixing intense colours which you wouldn't always see in a mani, and I decided that for my saran wrap mani I would start with pink and green.

Pink and green ?  I know!  But don't they look GREAT together ?  This is Barry M Shocking Pink layered with Barry M Spring Green.  In the bottle, the green is MUCH brighter than it is appearing here, where the pink base is actually darkening it.  

When I discovered this, I was quite sad, but then a miraculous transformation occurred in front of the camera, and suddenly this mani just POPPED.  Love it, love it.

I did this mani at the time I was experimenting with my Born Pretty polishes, and this is what you see on top of the pink and green  - the yellow stamping polish and a flower design from Cheeky CH12.

Pardon ?  Yes, that's right, that weird dappling effect is actually a yellow polish which doesn't look yellow because it's on such a dark base :(

I feel like this mani had secret qualities.  Unless you knew how it had been made, I don't think you'd work out the component parts, and I love that it's ended up this weird mushy mess of awesomeness.
