So here we
are … Number 1 …… da da DAH …. Sarah from Chalkboard Nails.
I know this
will be a popular choice with many of you.
Sarah is insanely talented, makes me sick with envy and just makes it
look *effortless*.
Sarah’s
blog is a masterpiece of design. She has
a photography major and because of this, everything is simple, clean and
crisp. There is nothing there that
shouldn’t be, no clutter. Joni Mitchell
once said “the most important lyrics are the ones you leave out of the song”,
and Sarah’s blog is the visual equivalent of that – pure, distilled
photo-artistry.
She is
possibly the best photographer out there, as you’d expect, and I love that she
has her own recognised hand shape. I love
that sometimes she doesn’t do very complicated stuff at all, stuff that’s so
simple and obvious that you just think
Arrrggghh, why haven’t I done that before.
She also
does complicated stuff. She’s a great
nail artist too, and probably the blogger who developed the most by doing the
31 day challenge – go back into her blog history and check those posts out,
some of them are uh-mazin’!
Sarah is
also my polar opposite in that she is a perfectionist. She always has a clear idea of what the art
should look like, and if it doesn’t, will do the nail again, and again, until
it looks good. Me, I just slap it on and
hope for the best, but Sarah makes sure it always IS the very best she can be.
Sarah – we love
you. What an amazing year, and I can’t
wait to see what you come up with in 2012.
