Drip Drop Manicure with Digital Nails Pandorica

Today's mani was a total accident, and I rather like it :)

I had been wearing Pandorica by Digital Nails and wanted to do something over it.  I wanted something bright, happy and easy ... so I decided to do a drip mani.

I've done these before, but usually only when I am doing manis with blood lol.  This time I used the advice of others and used a dotting tool to create my "drip" - I am not sure this helped actually, or maybe I just used too big a dotting tool.

I then used a fairly small nail art brush to draw in the rest of the mani.  It's quite trial and error I think to get this mani to look ok to the eye.

Polishes used - 
thumb - Zoya Maura
index - Rimmel Jazz Funk
middle - Sation Fan The Flames Fuchsia
ring - Rimmel Ultra Violet
pinkie - Morgan Taylor Perfect Match

I have to say, my favourite part of this mani is the skittling of the colours, and I'm glad I decided that early on.

Digit-al Dozen Dotting Days - Dots Within Dots Within Dots Within Dots ......

Yesterday I posted a Jumbo Dots mani full of happy colours.  It was one of those manis where I had to talk to myself (honestly) – do I leave it as is, or do I carry on and do what I set out to do?

Well, I carried on.  The only difference between this conversation and the identical ones I’ve had over the years, is that I’m a cleverer pup now and I take photos before I carry on lol.  You know it’s wise!  I even took photos at the half-way stage of the dots within dotting ... you can never be too careful!

So this mani was always supposed to be a dots within dots extravaganza.  It’s only because I loved the jumbo stage so much that that became a separate post, PLUS you don’t get to see a mani like that very often.

So I started putting dots inside my dots, and then more dots inside my dots that were inside my dots lol.   You need to get the colour balance right, so that you’re not adding a central dot too close to a jumbo dot in the same colour, but for the most part, I think I got it right.

My only difficulty with this mani came where I’d overlapped my dots.  Some were fine, but with others, I had to add half a dot or ¾ of a dot, and it bugs me that the middle finger is a bit wonky.

I added matte top coat quite early on in the re-dotting process.  Everything was just too damn shiny lol, and in photos, you really couldn’t see all the marvellous that was going down.

Plus, doesn’t the matte make it look all sherbert-y?   Sweet shop goodness.  

I hope you’ve enjoyed this extra Digit-al Dozen Week.  I have a couple more dotty manis that didn’t make it into this week – I don’t know yet whether to group them together and do another week in September, or just slowly release them into blogland.

Digit-al Dozen Dotting Days - Jumbo Dots!

Today sees one of my favourite looks of this week – Jumbo Dots.

I’ve always loved it when I’ve seen super large dots in other people’s manis, but I’ve never succeeded in getting them to work myself.  Until now mwahahahahah.  My weapons of choice?  The eraser on the end of a pencil and the end of a Berol pen.  Whatever you choose, I’d just recommend you practice first.  You need a little puddle to blob in, and from there you need to make sure you get full coverage on your “tool”, but not so much that you leave an irregular shape.

This mani became an excuse to use a shitload of bright colours and have fun.  I do honestly think it might be one of the happiest manis I’ve ever done – just looking at it makes me smile.

I like the overlapping of the dots, and I’m curious to see what this looks like in blue – whether it looks oceanic or just blue lol.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Brands - Milka, The Purple Cow

It's a never ending mystery to me that the same products are branded differently around the world.  Even more so, I have no idea how far round the world some of these products go.  So, if you're in Europe, I think you will "get" today's post.  Everywhere else, maybe not.

I wanted to do a purple mani for Brand Week and as soon as I Googled it, THIS came up and I yippeed, as I remember eating shitloads if it in my youth :)  "This" is Milka chocolate, gorgeous smooth melty Swiss chocolate, made with special milk from Milka cows :)

The branding was always cute, but who can resist an ombre purple cow print mani?  Not me!

I again plunged into my new lubberly untrieds, and picked the following lilac / purples - 
* thumb - w7 white
* index - Morgan Taylor PS I Love You
* middle - Rimmel Ultra Violet
* ring - China Glaze What A Pansy
* pinkie - Delush Polish Delushous Goddess

I then picked a small nail art brush and made my cow print.  Cow print is a great pattern to experiment with because it's so inexact.  You can't exactly go wrong.   

For each nail, I used a colour that was 2 nails variant, so the thumb was decorated with the base of the middle; the index with the base of the ring and so on.  For me, it's the best way to get "just" the right contrast, and of course, to not get to that last nail and go "oh bugger" because you went wrong lol.

Mmmmmm, I could fancy some Milka right now.   There's a lot of food brands today - check out the other girlies :)
