Hi Goddesses
As you know, I suffer with depression, and one of the things I have learnt over the years is that wearing certain nail polish colours can help me feel a little brighter. It's nice to look down at something bright and happy, even if that's not how I feel inside.
So today's prompt is dedicated to those colours, and usually I will go for bright pinks or oranges. As you know, I hate yellow, but if you're gonna splodge, yellow helps.
Polishes used -
- w7 Lemon Sorbet
- Girly Bits Our Lips Are Sealed (pink)
- Girly Bits King of The Lab (orange)
- Girly Bits No Such Thing As a Purple Problem
I then used the smiley faces from Cheeky Jumbo Plate 4 and this great "Keep Calm and Polish On" stamp from BM-619. Cos that's what we do right, keep calm AND polish on.
I'm sad to say I don't like this as much as I expected to. For me, the colours don't meld as much as I wanted, and I think I should have chosen a lighter purple. Still, love the sentiment.

Oh wow, do I have a week of compromised nail art for you lol! Some idiot / genius (me) suggested Thankfulness would be a great theme for November, as so many of our readers celebrate Thanksgiving.
Turns out Thankfulness is not so easy to translate onto the nail, and what you end up with is a whole stream of things that you genuinely ARE thankful for - chinese food, a specific moment in time, how someone made you feel - that cannot be artified. The risk then, is that you compromise (as we often do with fave book / film prompts) and try and create things that are PAINTABLE rather than truly emotive.
And then you have to hope they work as a skittle, rather than just looking like a pinboard of paintings by 5yr olds. Sheeeeesh!
We start with my beloved Beth, all 11 years of her. She is my beginning, my end, my glory. She's sooooo like me it's untrue, but she's also nicer, more considerate, and gentler. And probably less annoying :)
The middle nail is for love - and what a great stamp that is from Winstonia plate W207 - and similarly, the ring finger is smiles and laughter. I'm a big believer in laughter helping you get through life, and me and Beth often have giggling fits, breathless sessions and laugh til we cry. (Cheeky Jumbo plate 4).
My daughter is animal CRAZY and has been since she was born. From Day 3 I said she would be an actress or a vet, and I still don't think I'm wrong. The thumb then shows her heart (via LLC-A), covered in paw prints. There's not an animal show she hasn't watched or an animal that she doesn't know the in-depth history of.
On the index finger we have her beloved Pumpkin, who died last year. I think children under 10 form a very special relationship with animals, and Pumpkin was Beth's soul-mate, bed-mate and all round cuddle monster. There's definitely a Pumpkin-shaped paw print on Beth's heart.
And finally, that "oooh what shall we do for the last nail" moment. On her pinkie, she has the number 3. It seems to figure large in her life. Her DOB is 03.06.03 and she was born at 11.22am, which adds up to 33. Her father and grandfather were born on the 3rd, and my mother died on the 3rd, and she has 2 step-brothers (not mine), making her 1 child of 3.
Does this mani represent my gorgeous girl? Mostly. It is true to her, but there should probably be some more nails showing a nose stuck in a book, or an 11 yr old endlessly watching re-runs of Friends.
I love her so.

One of my purchasing holy grails this last summer was The Perfect Pink Holo. For you obviously, not for me, oh no, not for me AT ALLLLL ....
I purchased one or two or 6 in the process, and this lovely was one of them. It's less brash than the 2 Lilypads I bought (and who I feel really rule the roost), but it's probably the "perfect" shade if you're looking for bright, without the permanent requirement for sunglasses.
This is beautiful in colour and tone, and ... it's just one of those polishes that can make you happy just by wearing it.
I then did some stamping over it. I have no idea why I chose owls, but apparently I did lol. They are from Cheeky Jumbo plate 4 - Top of the Class.
The pink and the gold work beautifully together, and the owls look quite happy about the whole thing too.
I especially love that the pattern is "empty" enough that you can still fully appreciate the polish beneath it.

Today's mani is one of my favourites I have done recently. There's just something about the colours and the textures that works really well together.
This started as bit of idle curiosity when I was swatching the most recent Literary Lacquers collection. I was entranced by the colours of I'm Drinking Stars (champagne) and Jack Rose (cognac), and how although different, they shared a common golden heart, and so I decided on a little gradient.
Because these holos are quite sheer, I didn't use a sponge, as I didn't want to waste my nectar lol. Instead, I just used the polish brush and smooched the polish around a little.
I love that actually, what I've ended up with looks just like an exaggerated holo, and you can't really tell where one ends and the other begins.
I then stamped using a Konad orange polish a Cheeky Jumbo Plate 4, aka Top of the Class. I love this flower design - it's so bold and chunky, HOW WELL does that Konad fire off the holo base?
Loved it, super happy with it, couldn't stop looking at ... oooh, what's that ... oooh OPI Matte Top Coat .... hhhmmmm ....
And now I think I love it EVEN more. There's something about the finish now that makes this look like an epic pair of drapes lol, or the pattern on an old, 1940s settee!
If anything, the colours look even more beautiful matte, and the stamping booms brighter.
