Purple Fairy Crumpet Challenge 2 - Fireworks

Nails I Love

FIREWORK WEEK – PURPLE CRUMPET FAIRY CHALLENGE

Hi Goddesses

So this is the 2nd week of running the Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge, between myself and Claire, and already we are 3 !!  Welcome KerrieBlack who is also joining in.  Anyone is welcome, just drop me or Claire a line via our blogs or Facebook and we will add you to the group.  Basically, we pick a them each week or set each other challenges.

So, this week on my blog has been Fireworks Week, and it’s also the theme of today’s PCF Challenge.  I really loved how these turned out, although none of the photos *quite* captures the mani.

So, to the polishes –
  • Black – probably KleanColor black
  • Thumb – Pure Ice – Cheatin’
  • Index – KleanColor – Firework
  • Middle – Funky Fingers – Sand and Stilettos
  • Ring – a “so cheap it doesn’t even have a name” glitter from La Femme and an unnamed magenta glitter I got in a bulk buy
  • Little finger … let’s move on

For all of these I wanted to show the whole explosion of the firework, and used my tool of choice – the dotting tool.  I just find them much easier to use than a brush, and it helps deposit the glitter quite specifically.  The nails that to me look the best (thumb and ring)  (not the pinkie?  No. Shut up) were the ones done with the runniest glitter.  I like that the harder it was to apply, the better it looks – I like being rewarded like that lol.

Shall we talk about the pinkie ?  No, let’s not.  Why, cos it’s dogshit ?  Yes cos it’s …. I had SUCH a cool idea for the pinkie and it Did Not Work.  This was supposed to be a sparkler, glittery light supplied courtesy of Funky Fingers. With blinding inspiration, I decided a free nail striper in a bizarre metallic coffee colour would be awesome for the stick, and did a stripe, only to find it as wide as half my nail.  Siiiiigh.  Loved the others enough to not be too arsed, and hey, what’s a Crumpet mani with at least 1 disaster or something I have to try and hide with my logo?!?

Lol, I hope you like the rest, and let us know if you want to join our challenge J

Shattered Fireworks!

Nails I Love

FIREWORKS WEEK – Shattered!

Hi Goddesses

It’s a super short one tonight because I am like the title – shattered!  I am tireder than a Tired Thing on National Tiredness Day who took too many tired pills the night before.  Sooooo sleepy.

So, here we have the lazy Crumpet’s version of fireworks before the “art” starts tomo.  Moving on .. so, this is 5 nails, each painted with 2 coats of a different glitter and then shattered using my favourite crackle, China Glaze Black Mesh.

The colours used above are –
  • Thumb – CG Atlantis, an amazing teal kaleidoscopic glitter
  • Index – a pink franken I am working on
  • Middle – Sephora – Spark-tacular!
  • Ring – KleanColor Chunky Copper
  • Little – KleanColor …. Firework!!  Lol

On the other hand I mixed the order up a little, but that’s just personal preference.

These are very attention getting nails, and don’t they prove my point about how crackle really is a polish for Oct-Dec ?  These are perfect for the dark cold nights, and hopefully look a little like explosions of glittery colour in the sky.

Tomorrow is a biggie …. It could be an epic fail lol – stay tuned! J

Enjoy xx J

Zombie Snot - you asked for it!

Nails I Love

FRANKENING ….. Zombie Snot !!  Achoooo!

Hi Goddesses

A couple of weeks ago, I posted my Zombie Blood mani for PAA, and quite a few people (the legendary Nail Nerd included) commented that it also looked a lot like a zombie had sneezed on my nails J  Beth found this hilarious, and when we next sat down to franken, her only answer to the question of “what shall we make” was “Zombie Snot” !

Lol .. I’d love to blame it all on her, really I would, but I, the adult, was with her every step of the way J  You can see the concoction is quite transparent on the nail, like real snot, and the glitter *could* be bogies, right ?

We started with an opalescent Essence mini varnish and added about 5 drops of China Glaze Starboard to it.  I’m really pleased how this blended – exactly the right sort of gruesome colour.  We then added a gulp of 2 KleanColors – Peaceful Heart (a clear greeny jelly with large glitter peces) and Firework, an intense glitterbomb of gold, turquoise and orange.

I then played around some more, as you do, and layered the snot over some greeny colours – OPI Stranger Tides, Starboard, Zoya Dree and Color Club Twiggie.

I really like how it turned out as a layering polish.

So what’s your favourite – Zombie Snot, or Zombie Blood lol ?

Enjoy xx achooo J
