Today's mani is the only one this week that is inspired by a real thing.
A couple of weeks ago, a girl I worked with, came into work wearing a scarf. At first glance, it looked like pure camo but on closer inspection .... ooooh, roses!
The roses were woven into the camo and really unexpected. I loved the clash of masculine and feminine patterns, and knew instantly that this would make it to DD week.
The camo pattern was done with a dotting tool, and Barry M Olive and Cardomom and w7 Spearmint. Once the base was dry and sealed, I added the roses.
The roses are a base of Morgan Taylor Sitting Pretty and petals of w7 Salmon. I adore the clash of the pink with the green and the mix of patterns here.

And welcome to a week I've really been looking forward to! This week is Patterns on Patterns Week on DD, and I've LOVED this theme so much - so much that there's a lot of P on P action coming up beyond this week!
It's also really rare that I find a theme easy and the other girls find it hard, so either they've got something super wow and complicated coming up .. or mine are going to be dull in comparison!
Today I have some bright roses over messy stripes. The base is Barry M Sugar Apple, with stripes of Coconut.
The roses started as a mixture of w7 Powder Pink and Rimmel Instyle Coral to get the perfect shade. The petal edges were added with Jessica My Cabana Boy.
I love the overall effect of this mani - it's bright and cheerful and super springlike. Don't forget to check out what everyone else got up to today!

Last year, when I came back from my break, I wa shocked to find how dull and mundane my nail art had become. Once I started emptying the vault in about August, I really noticed a difference between stuff I'd done pre-break, and the stuff I was doing after.
One of the reasons I wanted to write and do this challenge, was to bring some kick ass nail art back to the blog, and I am delighted that I am so proud of so many of the manis I have done - including this one.
Pink and aqua always look dreamy together, and I decided a skittle was in order. The index and little fingers just have some dry brushing on them.
Polishes used -
- Barry M Coconut Gelly
- Glam Polish Pink Ladies
- Too Fancy Lacquer Lake Como
- dark green acrylic paint
Usually I do my roses my creating a blob, and using another colour to add in concentric quarter circles. I've seen a lot of people taking a more blended approach instead, so this time, I pastelled my polishes with a bit of Coconut, and added some swirly brush strokes in variation of the original colour.
This is one of those times when gloss and photography help! In real life, I couldn't see my painting too well, but under the camera, the detail seems to have sprung to life.
Overall, I'm super happy with how these turned out.

I didn't buy all the Barry M Autumn Gellys this year - a couple of them seemed dupish - but I was very drawn to Mustard, Chilli and Paprika. They fit perfectly as a trio, and today Paprika gets her own show.
Parpika is a colour I have sought for a long long time (as a lipstick too lol). She's off red, with brown tones, terracotta tones, and smells of the earth.
I love that she has heat, but that it's subdued. She's bright, but muffled. She's intense, but a little faded. She's always one click shy of "in your face", and that plays well.
To spice her up (cough), I splodged with Mustard and Chilli to create a dappled effect on my nails and then stamped with MoYou Gothic 07, a lovely roses pattern.
I've mentioned before how yellow is a nail art essential. Even for those of us who HATE the colour, there's no denying that here, in the stamping version, it's the yellow that brings it to life and lifts it to glory.
Stamping on splodging remains my favourite nail art recipe - if you haven't given it a go yet, do it! It'll make you smile :)
