Today I have a totally new technique for me, but one I have seen other bloggers use quite successfully.
For over a year, there's been fanfare over what you can do nail art-wise with a Sharpie pen. I have to say, I've struggled though. I've found the pen has either grooved through my polish, or refused to make a permanent line over my shiny polish.
Another technique I'd seen was using Sharpies on a sponge, squirting them with alcohol and then applying the sponge to the nail, to create a gradient. I mainly saw this on Beaching Nails, and she managed to get some awesome blends.
Mine is not so awesome lol, but it DOES look different to a nail polish gradient, and has a glassy quality I really loved. I found I had to press the sponge REALLY hard though to transfer the colours. Can you guess what happened with the thumb? Yep, base polish not quite dry enough (I did this over an off-white base).
Do I like it enough to try again? Definitely, but I think I'm going to need to head back to YouTube to get this one mastered.

If you read this blog a lot, you'll know that Jacki from Adventures In Acetone is my favourite blogger. I love her skills so much, and I love that although she does things I could never hope to match, she also does some things that I feel I could copy.
This mani came from Fairytales Week, a theme I really struggled with, and when I first saw it I kicked myself over how brilliantly she had translated a film and a fairytale into very groovy nail art.
The inspiration is Maleficent and her thorns, and the composition is relatively simple - gradient, thorns, and then that damn horny hat.
My excution isn't perfect, but I would be totally happy with these nails if Jacki's version didn't exist lol. There are a couple of things I am not happy with - I wish I had gone with a darker green, my thorns are a bit whispy, and yes I had difficulty with that hat.

Today's post is a mani I LOVE for so many reasons.
There's actually a gradient in here, but it's so subtle, it's only obvious in certain photos, and that's because these 2 polishes are just MADE for each other.
The gradient features 2 gorgeous polishes from Grace-full Nail Polish's Happily Ever After collection (which was sent to me for review) - Violetta The Dragon and Princess Rose.
The stamp is another goodie from MoYou's Illusion plates, one of my favourite ranges that they've ever done. This one is from Illusion 04.
Thank god I didn't do a slide show to make us all dizzy!

Today I have a mani which I LOVE and which I also think is quite complex for me - although as you'd expect, it's actually really simple to do!
This was done using the Jacava nail polishes I was sent for review - Drury Lane, Mont Blanc and Mount Row.
First of all I did a gradient, which you've already seen HERE. As I was looking at my nails, I could see a flower pattern in my head, and I hit on the idea of doing the flowers in reverse order to the gradient.
The flowers are super simple, done using a medium-small dotting tool.
The ony trickiness was the white. When it was over Mount Row (the darker blue) it looked perilously close the the middle shade (Drury Lane), so some double dotting was required.
