Zombie Snot - you asked for it!

Nails I Love

FRANKENING ….. Zombie Snot !!  Achoooo!

Hi Goddesses

A couple of weeks ago, I posted my Zombie Blood mani for PAA, and quite a few people (the legendary Nail Nerd included) commented that it also looked a lot like a zombie had sneezed on my nails J  Beth found this hilarious, and when we next sat down to franken, her only answer to the question of “what shall we make” was “Zombie Snot” !

Lol .. I’d love to blame it all on her, really I would, but I, the adult, was with her every step of the way J  You can see the concoction is quite transparent on the nail, like real snot, and the glitter *could* be bogies, right ?

We started with an opalescent Essence mini varnish and added about 5 drops of China Glaze Starboard to it.  I’m really pleased how this blended – exactly the right sort of gruesome colour.  We then added a gulp of 2 KleanColors – Peaceful Heart (a clear greeny jelly with large glitter peces) and Firework, an intense glitterbomb of gold, turquoise and orange.

I then played around some more, as you do, and layered the snot over some greeny colours – OPI Stranger Tides, Starboard, Zoya Dree and Color Club Twiggie.

I really like how it turned out as a layering polish.

So what’s your favourite – Zombie Snot, or Zombie Blood lol ?

Enjoy xx achooo J

Nail Fun - Autumn Leaves

Nail Fun

AUTUMN LEAVES

Hi Goddesses

I’ve had this mani in my mind for a couple of weeks now, ever since I did Lollipop here.   I wanted to use the same technique (cos nail art has to be simple with me in the room) to recreate a pile of autumn leaves – the sort you have to make a great big mess of if you’re wearing wellies!

And here it is.  Hhhhhm.  It’s not QUITE what I had in my head, but it’s a start.  For this I used once base coat of Zoya Dree (an olive green – see my review here).  To get the swirl you pick 3 colours and make vertical stripes on the nail (quite wet stripes) and then take a cocktail stick or dotting tool and swirl a pattern

For my colours I used Dree, COLOR CLUB Wild & Willing (an amazing metallic orange that reminds me of OPI Man of La Mancha) and the infamous Metro Chic by SEPHORA by OPI.

Something in the 3 colours doesn’t quite work for me, and I think it’s the Metro Chic – it just gets lost in the maze poor love, and barely makes a statement in any of the nails.  The orange works fabulously, and is the perfect colour for autumn, and whilst I love Dree, she dominates maybe a little too much.

I’m going to do this again in another couple of weeks, varying the colours a little.  In the meantime, if you’re as simple as I am, give this mani a go, it’s really easy and creates a cool effect.

Til next time J

Zoya - Dree

Nails I Love

ZOYA – Dree

Hi Goddesses.

A quickie from me.  This is Zoya Dree which I have just used as the base for a patterned mani.  As she’s so pretty on her own, I thought it only fair she had her own moment of glory – so here she is !  (oh and that’s why there’s still colouring outside the lines.  I didn’t clean up because I had more polish to put on).

Like all Zoyas, Dree goes on a dream (or should that be Dree-m lol).  This is just 1 coat and it’s pretty much fully opaque.

The colour is a perfect olivey dirty swampy green, and although I do not like greens, Dree is a very pretty girl indeed.

Like so many other greens that have come out in the last few months, this is very army coloured – I kept her to do a camouflage mani, but so far I’m failing BIGtime with that!

So, Dree.  Pretty much the perfect shiny deep olivey green.  Enjoy J

NAILS I LOVE - Zoya - Greens - YARA, DREE & GEMMA

Nails I Love

Nails I Love is written to celebrate some of the most beautiful nail varnishes on earth and to help you choose which colours and styles will suit you.

Each posting will feature details about the colour as well as photos.  I guarantee every photo will show the varnish as it looks on your fingers, otherwise, what’s the point ?

ZOYA – The Greens – Dree, Yara, Gemma, Edyta

So, we know greens aren’t my favourite, but I like Edyta (see previous blog) for its crazy antique vibe, and I loved the look of Gemma and THEN I was even excited to see Dree and Yara in the Smoke & Mirrors Collection – what is going on with me ??  Lol.  So here we go ….

from the top - Dree, Gemma, Yara, Edyta

Dree (from the Smoke Collection) is beautiful.  A glossy olive, this is just lush, ripe and swoonsome.  It’s a perfect camouflage green.  I don’t know how Zoya made such a drab colour look super-glam, but they did.

Gemma is dreamy and divine.  A super delicate sage green, this is full of gossamer shimmer that gives it a fairy-lightness of touch, at once giving it depth, and bleaching excess colour away.  This is a great colour if you’re shy of trying of green, it’s just so subtle and submissive.

Yara is from the Mirrors Collection and well, I could fall in love with Yara quite easily.  At first glance this is just Dree-with-gold-dust, but it’s a little bit more special than that.  It’s slightly darker than its Smoke Sister, and has a touch less olive to it.  It is jam-packed with gold micro-dust (just as Edyta is) and on the nail, well it just DEFIES categorisation.  It’s dark ..ish, but not over-powering; it’s full of gold, yet not sparkly or glittery; Yara is just a mass of beautiful contradictions.

Finally, some comparisons for you, so you can see how Zoya’s loveliest greens compare.

thumb split - Yara on the left, Dree on the right - you can see that Yara is darker
