Digit-al Dozen DOES Patterns on Patterns - Camo and Roses

Hi Goddesses

Today's mani is the only one this week that is inspired by a real thing.

A couple of weeks ago, a girl I worked with, came into work wearing a scarf.  At first glance, it looked like pure camo but on closer inspection .... ooooh, roses!

The roses were woven into the camo and really unexpected.  I loved the clash of masculine and feminine patterns, and knew instantly that this would make it to DD week.

The camo pattern was done with a dotting tool, and Barry M Olive and Cardomom and w7 Spearmint.  Once the base was dry and sealed, I added the roses.

The roses are a base of Morgan Taylor Sitting Pretty and petals of w7 Salmon.  I adore the clash of the pink with the green and the mix of patterns here.

31DC2015 Day 30 - Something You've Never Tried Before

Hi Goddesses

Ok, here we go, more messy decal madness!

As you may know if you follow this blog, me and watermarbling don't get along.  I really struggle to get my polish to spread, however much I yearn for those amazing patterns.

I recently saw THIS tutorial on Betty's Beauty Bombs, and wondered whethered it would be a better option for me.  Basically, you make your watermarble pattern, let it "set" on the water, then pull it out, cut it to the right size (AND pick the bit of the pattern you like) and plonk it on your nail.  So easy.

Yeh.   So again, I'm posting this one as a work in progress, something we can hopefully look back on in a few months when I have perfected it (cough).

2 things strike me - the see through bits in my pattern.  I don't know whether I need to do double rings, but man it annoys me, as does the slightly shaky lines in the water.  Oh and the lumpiness.  Flat it layeth not :/

Secondly oh this was messy.  I think other people may be better at cutting their decals to size - I ended up dissolving the "extra" bits with acetone and then getting all messy.  Yeh, YouTube here I come :)

Digit-al Dozen DOES Florals - A Little Pinspiration

Hi Goddesses

You may or may not know, but my Pinterest collection is quite huge.  It's only nail related, but there's a LOT in there, and as the saying goes, not a lot comes out!

I've been trying to make more of an effort to turn things I've pinned into actual manis, and this one was inspired by this print -

Originally, I was going to do this on top of Barry M Mustard, and I don't really know why I changed that to China Glaze All Aboard, but I sure do like the purple version.

I started by making some weird blobby, semi-triangular shapes in white, and then added a centre of Cadillacquer Maybe Tomorrow, a beautiful smokey lilac.

After that had dried, I added centre dots of Morgan Taylor Sitting Pretty, and finally, I added petals with green acrylic paint.

I'm actually quite chuffed with this one.  It's more ambitious than a lot of the nail art I do, and I really love how it all pulls together.

Don't forget to check out the other awesome ladies!
