A couple of weekends ago, I was lucky enough oreceive my set of The Muppet Collection by OPI, otherwise known as “OPI tries to ctach up with everybody else” lol.

In the UK, these polishes are £10 EACH, but I got the whole set of eBay USA for $64 …. Do the maths, polish prices are crazy in the UK.  It sent my blog a little crazy, and I got a lot of new followers purely because of these posts – so thank you, each and every one of you who has chosen to have a Crumpet everyday J

What I didn’t do originally, is 1 overall post including them all, so here they are now, IN POPULARITY ORDER.  Popularity based on number of post views.  Also, I didn’t swatch Goin Gonzo, Fresh Frog of Bel Air or Warm & Fozzie (just not my bag …. Sorry!)

In first place, with almost 2.5 times the views of its brothers and sisters, we have RainbowConnection, the crazy glitter bomb.

In 2^nd place, the favourite of the discerning polish-aholic, Designer de Better, a metallic suede.

3^rd place goes to one of my personal favourites, Meep Meep Meep, a cranberry crush with amazing glass flecks.

4^th place goes to the 2^nd best glitter in the collection (imo), Excuse Moi! (head toss).  Beautifully named.   As if OPI put Teenage Dream through the blender.

5^th is Divine Swine, a violet and silver glitterama.  I swatched it over lilac, but this will probably look best over black, especially if you are lemming Deborah Lippmann’s Bad Romance.

6^th place is a tie!  Ooooooh!  In the red corner, Wocka Wocka, my disappointment from the Collection, a reddy shimmer that OPI do All The Time ….

…and Gettin MissPiggy With It, the hilariously named red cousin of Divine Swine.

And the 2 that finished last, I do not get it!!  7^th place was one of my unexpected favourites from the bunch, Animal-istic, an orangey flecked masterpiece …

..and bringing up the rear, Pepe’s Purple Passion, a browrple with fabulous flecking.  How the hell is this last lol ???

So there you have it.  I don’t know whether Rainbow Connection is really the favourite, I suspect it was the one people were most interested to see swatches of.  Whatever, I’m just glad OPI finally got their asses back in the game (albeit a lot late).

There is a lot of wow in this Muppets Collection.  This is one of the ones that immediately caught my eye when the first promo bottles came out waaay back when.  But that was before DLHB – before I got Deborah Lippmann’s Happy Birthday for my birthday J

Rainbow Connection is a polish addict’s crack in a bottle.  It’s got glitter of all shapes and sizes and all colours and the bottle is absolutely RAMMED.  There are silver pieces, orange, pink, blue, yellow, green – it really is a rainbow of glittertasticness J

I’m intrigued to swatch this next to Happy Birthday to see how close or different they are.  This one feels like it has more “sweetie shop” colours in it, but that could be my imagination.

I personally wouldn’t want to wear this alone, although I have to say, I was surprised just how much coverage 2 coats generated.  I love how it looks over the skittles, and how it looks different over each one, as if different pieces of the glitter stand out and clash with the different base colours.  Surprisingly, the teal one is a major winner for me.

You might be able to see on the thumb a mahoooosive drag mark.  This is another polish that is best dabbed rather than spread.   I found that blobbing also really allowed me to get good even coverage of the glitter, rather than just the teeny tiny pieces at the bottom and the big ones at the tip!

So this is a total love for me, and I actually love it much more than I thought I would.  I was really worried I would feel it was superfluous next to HB, but I am loving owning both.

Today I have another polish from the Muppets Collection and what that I really wasn’t keen on.  Typically, when they arrived, I drooled over the pinks and purples, and put this to one side in the “meh” pile.

What I didn’t expect is that once I put it on, I absolutely fell in love with it!  Seriously!  And it’s orange!  This, for me, is the surprise of the collection, and a polish I am utterly entranced with.  I can’t wait to wear it again J

To investigate this unbalance in the universe, I now bring you my special report.  Animal-istic is a sister to Meep-Meep-Meep.  This is basically orange, with loads of glass flecks.  But that’s only half the story.

As I’ve moved through the house and various lighting, I’m amazed by how much this changes, from Jaffa to burnt orange to orangey-red.  The flecks add depth, light and sparkle, and really make this polish sing.

It’s bright, it’s happy, it’s pretty.  This is one orange I am happy to wear.  Better than that, the flecking gives this some serious nail art potential – we may be revisiting the Volcano girls!

This is just full of tomatoey goodness.  Utterly beautiful, bright and electric, and full of burnt embers.  It’s liquid lava!  And I just can’t get enough.

Another winner from the Muppets Collection, and this is probably the one I was most excited to swatch.

Pepe’s Purple Passion is more of a burgundy than a purple.  There are deep brown tones to this, making it very autumnal.  Like it’s sisters, Animal-istic and Meep-Meep-Meep, this is flecked.  The difference with PPP is that the flecks are a lot lighter, rather than being just a variation of the tone of the polish.  So here you get a very browny purple with hushed fuschia flecks.

PPP reminds me a lot of Merry Midnight – they both have a very similar base colour – just without the flakies.  I’m interested to see them side-by-side, and to see what happens when I put a flakie topping on this one.

In some lights, this polish just looks dark, but take her out into the light and she sparkles like diamonds in a coal mine. 

OPI is usually the best polish for application, but PPP was really hard to put on (and I’m sure I’ve read somebody else blog the same thing).  It’s very thick, and not particularly easy to move around the nail, so this needed a lot of clean-up.  Unfortunately, because of the vampyness of the colour, it didn’t want to be helpful during clean-up either!  Good job she’s so fabulous!

Perfect polish for autumn, and really beautiful to look at and just watch how she dances in the light.

Another fabulous glitter from the Muppets Collection, and this one is the total twin of Gettin Miss Piggy With It.  They are identical in every way except their base glitter.

I decided to layer this over Sally Hansen LACEY LILAC as I didn’t like how GMPWI looked on its own. I also wanted to layer it over something pale enough that I would be able to evaluate the small glitter.  The combo works really well, but I do wish I’d done it over a really dark purple – I think that will look stellar!

Divine Swine is a clear base packed with violet micro glitter and silver discs.  You can wear this on its own, but as I say, I thought GMPWI looked a little threadbare on its own, and I would prefer not to spend all afternoon removing the 4 layers that would be necessary for full opacity.

This has a remarkably smooth feel for a glitter, and like the other Muppet glitters, you might find you need to dab this on, rather than spreading it on.

I don’t quite wow this one like I thought I would, but it’s still a keeper.  I think I need to get my purple lorryload of polishes out to find the ones it works best with.
