Hi Goddesses
Tape manis are something I'm getting better at, and I particularly love that this one has an air of drama around it. It's also the first successful photo session of the new lighting set-up, and I'll talk a bit more about that later.
This is a base of Jacava Toffee Apple, which you first saw here. It's a lovely rich, cherry red - a perfect base for a tape mani.
For me, a lot of the success of a tape mani is down to your colour choices, and whether they pop off each other enough. I decided to layer this one with a holographic top coat - Darling Diva Dreamy - and the contrast works. Whenever I'm doing a laser mani like this, I really think about my colours, and whether I've created enough dynamic.
To be honest, I thought the Dreamy would turn the red into a holo red. I didn't expect it to be quite as opaque as it was, but actually, that was fine, as the red bounces off the silvery tones quite nicely.
And will you look at all that holo !!! This is the first real success story of the natural light lightbulb - they make your holos POP !!! There's another post coming up with a swatch of a holographic polish, and I just can't believe how much bend and rainbow it's captured. Interestingly, in my "old" set up, this mani photographed very flat indeed (you'll see that in a Blogger Boot Camp post soon).
Wow, I can't get enough of looking at these photos! See you tomorrow for a "Cheer Yourself Up" mani :)
Love xx
