Glitter Gal Fuchsia 3D Holo - layering polish

GLITTER GAL – Fuchsia

Hi Goddesses

You might remember that I was a little disappointed with Glitter Gal Fuchsia.  Not because it’s hideous or because it lacks holo, purely for the fact that it’s quite sheer, and not fuchsia toned at all.

It’s very nudeness then gave me an idea, and I decided to see what it looked like as a pink-tinged topcoat.

For my skittles we have –
* A thumb of SH Delphinium, a beautiful lilac
* An index finger of Barry M Dusky Mauve (fairly dark)
* A middle finger of SH Back To The Fuchsia (oh sooooo much irony)
* A ring finger of OPI Parlez Vous OPI
* And a pinkie of just Glitter Gal fuchsia

Can I start with the sarcasm ?  Yippee.  You would think GG Fuchisa would look the same as a nail polish with fuchsia in the title, wouldn’t you ? I’m not being unreasonable, am I?  Holy moly, could there BE more difference ?

Phew, that feels better.  You’ll notice this works quite well as a top coat, especially on the 2 lilacs, where it really blends with the base colour.  On the darker colours (like the one that’s also called fuchsia? YES.  But … Shut up, we’ve moved on) I feel like it sits on top of the polish rather than becoming one with it.  There’s just something about the way the holo moves – you can tell the holo is not taking the colour with it.

I still like how this looks, and I am definitely going to keep it up my sleeve as a neat day 2 trick, but just bear it in mind.  The paler the base colour, the more effective this is as a layering polish.  The 2 darker nails still look lovely, just not so joined up.

I also think this would look great over a pale grey like Zoya’s Dove or over a taupe.  A great way to add a little something extra that’s still relatively subtle.

Coming back to these photos a few days after I took them, I really REALLY like the effect, and I think from now on, I won't be taking my GG Fuchsia neat - she's a cocktail girl!  Mix her up and layer her on :)

Enjoy xx J

Top Tip – if you’re ever unsure what a nail colour looks like, go to Google images, which will give you plenty of contrasts and compares.
