Nubar - Peacock Feathers

Hi Goddesses

Ok, are you ready?  I mean seriously, sat down with a napkin and a drool bucket ready?   Cos, to paraphrase Beyonce, if you're not, I don't think you're ready for this jelly :)

I promised you that Celebration 500 month would include 2 spectacular polishes.  You see, in the polish world, there are LOTS of gorgeous polishes.  There are also LOTS of gorgeous HTF (hard to find) polishes.  And then there are the polishes of which legend are made, polishes that are sooooo impossible to find that they're not even on ebay for the price of your newborn.

Step forward Peacock Feathers by Nubar.    Unlike others in the collection it sprang from, this baby got discontinued quickly due to one of the pigments no longer being available.   The fact that it is GORGEOUS as well as almost impossible to find makes it a true legend.

I was lucky to get my hands on this during a swap.  Someone had it and had never worn it, so I traded it for something else I owned.  I also shared a third of it with Francini, who I did my Brazilian swap with, who was also desperately hunting for it.

So what makes it so special?   Well, this has a quite spectacular colour shift, from Victorian purple, through navy to forest green.   The camera has picked up some colour shifts my eye hasn't, yet at the same time it's been reluctant to pick up the purple.  The purple is the predominant resting colour though, an intense royal shade.

The dark emerald came out in sunlight (yeh, we had a minute of it today), and there is just nothing not to love about the gothic transitions of this colour.

If you want a guide, think Zoya Ki (or OPI Not Like The Movies) and imagine what that polish would look like with a charcoal base.

This looks like pure petrol in the bottle, a slick of decadent, vibrant hues.  Well named, this polish, well named.  More than anything, it reminds me of dusk and black magic.  There is trouble to be brewed wearing this polish, oh yes.  It's like witches tartan.  In a bottle.  This polish is my very soul.

There is talk that Nubar are preparing to release something similar to this later in the year - let's hope so, every goddess deserves to own something this special.

And then, just because I could, I tried it with a holo topcoat and it STILL looked spectacular.  It's been a bitch to photograph, but trust me when I say the colour shift was still there.

The holo top coat I used was Beam Me Up by Feenix - awesome, and it'll be on the blog soon.  In the meantime, altogether now, droooooooooooooool.

Enjoy xx :)
