Hi Goddesses
A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be sent 12 Shimmer Polishes to review. 12. Yes, 12!! It seems a strange thing to say, but to receive 12 all at once was a little intimidating, especially as they have been swatched by so many other awesome bloggers.
I let them sit there for a few days until they spoke to me, and the one thing I was keen to do was show them differently than plain swatches. Needless to say, that has been more successful in some cases than others, so some polishes - like Maria - will get their own post, whilst some of the other girls will have to huddle together and share the limelight. I'm also going to share my "process" for swatching glitters with you soon, as I do some things a little differently, and you might find it an interesting way to experiment.
So, Maria. Maria was the first girl I took to the dance, mainly because I knew exactly who I wanted to pair her with. I'd just lent Butter London Royal Navy to a friend, and as soon as it came back, the date was on!
Maria is unusual amongst Shimmer glitters in that she is prinicipally one colour - bright blue - with silver accents. Most Shimmers, as you'll see over the next few days, are a cornucopia of colour, but I like the simplicity of Maria.
Also, doesn't she swoon beautifully into the arms of Royal Navy? They look made for each other :)
All nails have 2 coats of Royal Navy. The middle finger has just one coat of Maria on it. These are very dense polishes, and it's not always easy to achieve a sparser look. The thumb has a water reed / interwoven design and the index has flames. I don't know what the pinkie is up to, but I was running out of random by then!
I do love this combination. It's dark, it's sensual, and it's on the brink of midnight. It's one of my very favourite of the 12 pairings.
This polish was sent to me for an honest review. Enjoy xx
