Hi Goddesses
At the end of last year, Kerrie, one of my best polish friends and Digit-al Dozen alumni released her own brand, Quirk. The UK Indie scene is quite a long way behind the US version, and her brand immediately stood out for its imagination, great colour combos AND its quality (Kerrie is a rigourous tester).
Since then, she has been gently spreading her wings, adding more and more to her testing shelf, and this month has unleashed something she has wanted to do for the longest time - link her polishes to books. Like me, Kerrie is a book worm, and her genius idea is to provide a book and 2 polishes inspired by it, as well as lots of other little extras.
And it's the little extras that have really stolen my heart. Yes, I am biased, but I can feel Kerrie's love in each and every one of the carefully chosen quotes - such a beautiful, beautiful touch - and the glitters and decals.
I want you to close your eyes for a moment. Kerrie is a pup of a polishmaker. Imagine if she were a big brand, with a big budget - how utterly awesome would this gift be? How totally and spectacularly appropriate for the book-loving polishaholic in your life?
The homemade aspect is part of the charm of this package, but this is yet another reason why I feel Kerrie has the ability to go all the way. As voracious polishaholics for the last 2 years, we have similar perceptions of quality and "magic", but crucially different tastes (she likes green - pah!).
I KNOW her eye for colour and mixes is going to take her far, and I am so proud that one day I am going to be able to say I knew her. So go on, lap this LE up while you can, because it's going to be worth a lot of money one day.
The 2 polishes provided for review are Little White Bird, a glorious gold paste of a polish, a little thick to apply, yet somehow also easy to apply. This looks like brocade on the nails - love.
The purple - The Secret of Happiness - is a lovely bright popping lilac with the teensiest tiniest purple square glitter - really lovely and subtle. For a thickish glitter, this also applied ridiculously easily.
You can follow Quirk on Facebook HERE and buy her goodies HERE. The March Novels n Nails LE is available for pre-order for £20.
