Hi Goddesses
This was not my planned mani for today! For days, I've had a photo of an amazing dress Cate Blanchett wore pinned in for this day, but when I examined it today, I just didn't feel I could do it justice. Plus, today I am in the deep dark hole of depression, (I can't tell you how much effort it has taken to get this blog post up) so something much easier was required.
By then, I had already done my black base for Cate's dress, using one of the new Barry M matte nail paints, Espresso. I'll spare you the polish review, but let's just say once it's on, it looks like a blackboard.
So I did a bit of Googling and found these amazing flip flops. Now, there's no doubt at all they would have looked better with black stripes on a pink background, but that option was out.
I thought you might like to start seeing close ups of which brushes or tools I use for each mani - the lines on this one were made with what I would call a medium detail brush. It's relatively thin, but not tiny.
I finished with a coat of Wax on by Pretty and Polishes, and whilst I *like* the overall mani, I don't LOVE it. I wish I hadn't tried to follow the rough-edged pattern of the original - on the nail I think it just looks amateurish.
I hope you've enjoyed this September Spectacular, and I hope you've entered the GIVEAWAY which ends tonight.
Enjoy xx :)
