Hi Goddesses
So here we are with Day 2 of our LOSTathon, and Day 2 celebrates Season 2.
Season 2 was a game changer. It introduced the Tailies (the other survivors), the brilliant Mr Eko (dressed as the anti-Jack), lost the character of Michael, which also sadly meant the premature departure of Walt, and also brought us our first glimpse of ..... Benjamin Linus :)
But Season 2 was all about the hatch. The mysterious interred object that had obsessed Locke was finally opened, and revealed another iconic LOST character - Desmond. It also introduced us to all things Dharma and the immortal line "I'm gonna need to see that again."
Whilst I loved all the revelations of the hatch, I didn't like it from a tension point of view - how bloody convenient that people airwrecked on a desert island should have access to food and medicine. Gggrrrrrr.
Oh and yes, blood ... there was lots of blood. It's not often a screen death takes you by surprise, but it's so damned rewarding when it does.
Ok .... here's them nails :/
Thumb - the series opened with our protagonists staring at the hatch, embossed with the very numbers that make Hurley shiver - 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42. For this I used just 1 coat of CG Harvest Moon and dotted the numbers with OPI Black Onyx.
The Dharma symbol dominated Season 2, and here it's represented on the forefinger and the ring finger. On the index finger, it's over a layer of NerdLacquer Gorramit, sponged with CG Westside Warrior, to give it that mossy, dirty, aged look. On the ring finger, it's just over SH White On. Both nails are stamped with RA 114. I used it the other week for a stamping challenge and there was just something about it that reminded me of the Dharma symbol.
The middle finger represents one of my favourite parts of LOST - the story of Rose and Bernard. Theirs is a story of hope, love and acceptance, and I was glad I got to include them in one of the manis. In this episode, Bernard is trying to build a giant SOS out of rocks on the beach, little knowing that Rose doesn't want to leave because the island has cured her cancer.
This is 2 coats of the lovely CG Fast Track, dotted with SOPI Metro Chic.
And finally - I told you there was a lot of blood! This again is OPI Royal Rajah Ruby which seems to make perfect dried looking blood, over 2 coats of Zoya Dove. I'm not going to say whose death this represents, just in case anyone out there gets a ruined surprise.
Season 2 ended with betrayal and an explosion, the latter definitely being the more dramatic and exciting. Little did we know that Mr Eko was almost gone (such a premature exit) or that 8 weeks of imprisonment on ANOTHER island was about to begin ... Lost's worst few weeks were just a new Season away ....
