Models Own Beetlejuice, Take 2 - Purple Blue

Nails I Love

MODELS OWN Beetljuice – PURPLE BLUE

Hi Goddesses

Let’s start with the good news, shall we?  This one I LIKE.  Let’s switch back to the bad news, shall we ?  This one’s a BITCH to photograph lol.  I have done my best, but blimey, this is a tricky one.

Ok, so it’s called Purple Blue, but it shouldn’t be.  Burgundy Blue would be more appropriate, although admittedly less cool.  Visually, there’s a LOT going on in this colour, mainly because the polish seems to be made not of liquid, but of dust particles.  The first coat is incredibly sheer, but it’s actually ok, because the polish looks really impressive here – you can literally see the blue, gold and burgundy dancing on your nail.

Let me try to break the colour down –
  • This polish is blue AND burgundy, both at the same time
  • It reminds me of a barely cooked steak, that looks reddy brown yet blue marbled, all at once
  • It also reminds me of a MAC eyeshadow called Blue Brown – it IS 2 clashing colours, simultaneously
  • This has a lot of fleck and sparkle, and much more colour bend than Aqua Violet – this has shades in between its two extremes
  • In some lights this is bluey, in some lights it’s like dried blood, and in some lights it’s gold flecked rusty burgundy

I told you she was complicated !

Given the amount of blue in this polish, it’s a real surprise at how purple-brown she is.  Sometimes she looks like brown toned purple steel.  It’s a weird and almost indescribable combination.  I can’t think of another polish that’s a cold AND warm colour.

I wore 3 coats in all the photos (it is very sheer) and had no chipping after 2 days.  To be honest, Models Own polishes seem to have a lot of staying power, I’ve never been disappointed with them in this area.

I do really like this, but I am not sure that it’s a total love yet, possibly because of my deep and recent love for Hard Candy BEETLE.  It’s also because it is so hard to pin this colour down – this really does roulette through half a darkened rainbow.

If I had the super whizzy camera that TraceFace has, I would be able to show you a close-up of all the dancing particles on my nail …. But I don’t.  lol.  Suffice to say, that in the best way possible, this looks like someone tried to make a dark purple by mixing ruby red and blue, and forget to blend it finely enough.

So for now, I hope I’ve given you enough to …. Enjoy xx J

Top Tip – if you’re ever unsure what a nail colour looks like, go to Google images, which will give you plenty of contrasts and compares.
