Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge - Week 3 - What Is Your Oldest Nail Polish ?

Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge – Your Oldest Polish!
OPI – 20 Candles On My Cake

Hi Goddesses

So, this week’s Challenge on PCF is “Your Oldest Polish”, and as with so many things in my life, this brings with it its own sad story.

Almost a year ago, when I became a nail painter again, I decided to dedicate myself to OPI alone and THREW AWAY all my old polishes which included Cliniques, Revlons, L’Oreals, Max Factors, Barry Ms, Nails Inc, Essies …. I know, I can scarcely believe it either, and you are free to shake your head at me whilst you read this J

Sooooo my oldest polish is only a year old – gasp!  This is from my first OPI haul.  I can’t even remember all the ones I bought, but I know I didn’t keep them all.  This is 20 Candles On My Cake, and this is what we would always in CrumpetLand have called “my colour”.  That means it’s not pink, or red or brown, but some indistinct blurring of the 3, sometimes weighted to one corner of the triangle, sometimes to another.  This is my earthy red tone, the one that best represents me.

20 Candles is a lovely colour.  Glossy in that OPI way but …. this is only the 2nd time I have worn it since I bought it!!  Why, I hear you gasp ?  Well because now my eyes are open to the amazing buffet of nail polish, and this, my “me” colour, is no longer a favourite of mine, but instead a colour that I look at and go “meh”.

Shivers.  Can you believe it ?? My tastes in polish have changed dramatically in a year, and it’s a shame I now think 20 Candles is a little boring.  That doesn’t mean I don’t LIKE it, just that I don’t run to wear it.

Colourwise it’s that lovely pink-red-brown mix, shiny as hell and very ladylike.  It’s colourful, but subdued.  Bright, but suppressed.  These days, I like my polishes to scream out loud J

By the way, I’m having a bad day, and by the looks of it, so is my camera!  These photos look more orangey than pinky, so please turn up the volume in your head J

What was your 1st polish ?

Enjoy xx J

Top Tip – if you’re ever unsure what a nail colour looks like, go to Google images, which will give you plenty of contrasts and compares.
