MSMD - Britishness

Hi Goddesses

You join me in a very emotional state today.  I shed bucketloads of tears last night at the Olympic Closing Ceremony, and I was soooooo proud of the show we put on.

I've never really worn my Britishness very loud and proud - I am of part-Polish descent, so I've always seen myself as a child of the world, and to be honest, Britain has never been my nirvana; for the most part it's miserable, cynical and joy-sapping, the very opposite of the things I stand for.  But I have to say, the Olympics have changed that - unashamed joy, gaiety and abandon, and national pride of the very best kind.  Just amazing, and special .... and emotional.

I'm not going to go into the Closing Ceremony itself, because I'm going to pay tribute to that later in the week, but today, for MSMD, I wanted to celebrate Britishness.  It's a feeling that's been creeping up on me since the Olympics started, and it was the insipration for the launch of the British Nail Bloggers weekly round-up yesterday - let's be proud, and let's celebrate.

So how does that bring us to MSMD?  Well, MSMD was always about inspiration, not just from other people's manicures, but also from the patterns, designs and motifs that surround us, and for the last month, this is what my dotting tools and brushes have been sat in -

It's a metal box that housed some patriotic make-up freebie, but I loved the grafitti effect of the Union Jack.   As I say, it's been staring at me for a couple of weeks, and after all the glorious representations of the flag last night, I thought it made perfect sense to recreate this on my nails today.

I used 1 coat of Zoya Song, an amazing blue I'll feature soon - seriously, opaque in one coat.  I then splattered with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and then finally, tried to do some scruffy lines with an Art Deco striper in red.

Overall, I love them.  I prefer the thumb, index and middle, purely because they're messier as the splatter worked better - but look, not a bad match for the tub :)

Enjoy, and wherever you are, I hoped you loved the Greatest Show on Earth, and that you take a moment today to praise those who inspire YOU xx :)
