Work Wear Wednesday - OPI Classic - Sheer Your Toys!

I have a STUNNING polish for you today.

Sheer Your Toys! is an OPI classic from the 2008 Holiday In Toyland Collection.  It's a Collection that's rich with icy colours, reds, darks ... and this, a swoony grey.

I think the thing I love most about this grey is that it's a WARM grey.  Usually grey is a cold colour, but this one is softer, puttier and almost pigeon-y in its grey hues.  There's definitely delicate smudges of pink, lilac and taupe in the genetics of this polish.

This also has a gorgeous shimmery quality to it - it reminds me a little of Zoya Dove in that they both have what I call the "cashmere look" - polishes you could sink into and cuddle.

This was 2 coats.  I debated whether to do 3, and I think if I had been wearing it on its own, I would have, but as I was layering it, I wanted to keep the layers to a minimum!

Personally, I really love this one - in fact, the entire collection is a beaut - and this is perfect if you want a grey that's just a leeeeeeeetle bit different.

31 Day Challenge - Day 5 BLUE

This is a mani from the long lost Summer of 2012.  Behold the splendour of the natural sunny light, beaming on the delicious manicure ..... I think it rained 20 minutes later :/

This was originally going to be a Recycled Nails post, but seeing how I got roped into this challenge, it's now become Day 5 aka Bluuuuuuuue.

The base for this mani is the Barry M Magnetic in blue.  I did each nail with a different magnet pattern - my favourite by far is the one on my index and ringer finger; it's like a spaced out star :)

The quality of the Barry M magnetics is high, and the pigmentation is divine.  The purple, in particular, has become one of my actual favourite purples - there is something divine about how they introduced metal to the colour.

Stage 2 was this stamp from Mash-45.  I have no idea what it is, but it's vaguely aquatic to me and reminds me of underwater reeds.

This would have looked cool left at this stage.

But look how much cooler it looks with little dots of Zoya Wednesday!   I loves !!!  I was really pleased with how this turned out.  A lot of the stampers I admire often embellish with dots, and I'd never done it before, but I think it works really well with this pattern.

The Wednesday also provides a lovely contrast to the metallic depth of the blue - it all just plays off each other so well.  This is definitely one that adds up to more than the sum of its parts.

Summer Challenge - Day 36951 - Hothouse Flowers

Ok, ok, I know it's really Day 62 or something but MAN, what was I thinking ???  A 66 Day Challenge ??  And then I drop out on the final lap ?  Whoops, naughty Crumpet!

I'm making an effort this week, I promise.  I've really just lost enthusiasm for this challenge, partly I think because summer never really arrived in the UK, and man those autumny purples are calling to me!

Can I just say, for the record, how much I LOVE THIS MANI?! Oh this delighted me.  It was so happy, and bright and cheerful and perfect.  Loved it, absolutely loved it.

The origin for this mani is the Essie Neons playdate I had with myself a few weeks ago - this is a gradient between Action and Lights.  Seriously, just the gradient looked Amazeballs.

Now, tell me this isn't just one of the best stamps of all time.   This is from BM-320, and I think it's main purpose is to look like the water marble bloom.  For me though, it also looks like the segment of a gigantic flower.  I used Konad Red to stamp.

There is nothing about this mani I don't love. The clash of the colours is just delicious.  Next time I need me some happy, this is the mani I'm doing :)

31 Day Challenge - Day 4 GREEN

So yesterday we had yellow and today we have green, wow this Challenge is a TREAT isn't it ?  Luckily, I had something very nice nestling in the vault.

This a a-England Saint George, which is technically a teal, but on me just looks dark green :/

It was stamped with Konad Black and this crazy jigsaw pattern.

In real life, it was really hard to notice there was a pattern.  The black and the Saint George are both dark, so there wasn't perhaps enough contrast.   From a distance, this also looked more like a check pattern, but I still like it.

31 Day Challenge - Day 3 - Yellow

Ugh.  Yellow.  Pigging yellow!

It's a long time since I've done a challenge I didn't create, so at least this time I have someone other than myself to blame - YELLOW????!!!

This is good ole Barry and his M with ..... yes, Yellow.

I actually did put some thought into whether I should do some nail art - you almost had an egg skittle (scrambled, fried, poached er ... and then I ran out of ideas) but in the end, I just decided to stamp over it, and try and drown some of the yellow out.

The plate I used is Fun2.  Ever since I got it, this is a pattern I've been attracted to - I love the retro / beaded curtains effect it has.

Thank God that's out the way.  Phew yellow's over, which means tomorrow is .... green.  Great.  Can I get a break here ???
