Guest Post - Michaela from The Mani Cafe

Hi Goddesses

Whilst the flu continues to grind me down and keep me quiet, a big thank you to Michaela from The Mani Cafe who has stepped in with an awesome guest post to keep you all entertained xx

Hi Crumpet readers! I'm Michaela from The Mani Café and I'm excited to be guest posting over here today for Debbie!

So here goes! I have some cute nail art for you today inspired by the film Despicable Me and the super cute Minions! I love the films and I recently received my 'Minions in a Bottle' by Red Dog Designs and just had to do some minion nail art to go with it!

Minions! - Kiko 336, Kiko 279 & Red Dog Designs Minions In A Bottle

I started out with Kiko 336, a gorgeous royal blue creme, on some of my nails, leaving my ring and middle finger nails for accent nails later. I used 2 coats of 336. The formula is lovely and very easy to work with. I then topped the blue nails with one coat of Red Dog Designs 'Minions in a Bottle' which is described by Gina, the creative genius behind the brand, as 'A mix of blue, yellow, and black hex glitters, white and silver holo circle glitters, and micro holo glitter!' This polish is just so fun and so perfectly executed. Red Dog Designs really does make some of the best glitter polishes out there! Formula and application were good and I didn't need to fish for glitter at all. You may want to dab and place some of the larger glitters but that's about it. I finished these nails with a coat of topcoat.

Now the accent nails. I started out on the minions by applying 2 coats of Kiko 279, a simple yellow creme. This is a good basic yellow to have in your collection. Formula and application, like most Kikos, were great.  I then used a fine detail brush and Kiko 336 for the minions' overalls. Then I painted their faces using my fine detail brush and a dotting tool as well as A-England Excalibur (a metallic silver foil) and acrylic paints.

If  you'd like to recreate this nail art, I'd recommend you try following this tutorial from my friend Jacki at Adventures In Acetone. She basically explains the steps I used myself so I won't repeat here when she has already done it so well!

Thank you so much to the lovely Crumpet for having me today! I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, feel free to pop on over to my blog The Mani Café or my Facebook page to see more! :)
