Nail Fun - Carrie

Nail Fun

Nail Fun is all about having fun with your nails.  Layering it, splattering it, making pretty patterns with it … it’s the most fun you can have on your own with a child in the house !!  J

CARRIE !!!!

So, the theme for this week’s PAA Monday mani was film / tv / book inspired and I’ll admit, I struggled, having foolishly done a vampire mani a few weeks before.  I decided if I couldn’t think of anything, I would do Freddy Kreuger’s jumper (and therefore my first tape mani in black and red) and then a strange thing happened – everywhere in the blogosphere this week, I saw drip manis and so – Carrie, ta-dah!

Carrie, the Stephen King book, the Sissy Spacek film, sees our strange heroine bucketed in pig’s blood at the prom.  Any mani that allows me to make blood splatters is a winner, so off I went!  I struggled with thinking what base colour to use.  I initially was going to use a red base (to add to the drama of the blood and give it some depth) but I couldn’t get the combination of reds right.  Eventually, I settled on a contrast colour – Color Club’s WORTH THE RISQUE – which also felt quite prom-like.

Drip mani is easier than it looks.  You paint the tips of your nails, then you take your dotting tool (medium size) and dot the drips.  I then did a few random dots as well.

On the middle nail, I tried to create a pool of blood, but it didn’t quite work – oops.

I did love how this turned out – I’ll be returning to the drip theme again methinks.

Have fun Goddesses J
