The Digit-al Dozen DOES Rainbows - Literally

Hi Goddesses

This is my final mani of DD week. I did have a full week of ideas, but heading back to work early put severe stresses on my time.

For this mani, I wanted to use a fan brush to swipe a rainbow across my nails.  It's a technique I've used before and love because all the polishes moosh together, and if you use a holo in there, it creates magical things.

As you know, all week I wanted to use the same polishes, so this mani was done using just cremes and .... I couldn't get it quite right.  I LOVE the thumb, love love love, but couldn't get it to replicate on the other nails.

The main reason for this is that after a while (2 nails) your fan brush becomes overloaded.  But when you wipe it, it separates, and goes from being a fan brush to a 9 clawed animal, and so you can't get the spread and the moosh you're after.

Luckily, I had a spare, which is the only reason I managed to get the different colours you see on the index nail.  Yep, I actually redid nails for this mani.

I tried it matte, but felt this made it look more like parrot feathers, and eventually settled on matte with glossy raindrops.  What I should have done was chop my other fingers off so that all you could see was the thumb lol ....

See you soon xx

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Rainbows - Flowers

Hi Goddesses

What a week!  When I posted on Monday, I fully expected to be posting this mani on Tuesday, but then life intervened as it does!  I ended up going back to work early, so Tuesday became my one day to do a week's worth of errands.

I was determined to try and avoid dots for this theme, but knew there would be a lot of floral patterns I couldn't resist.  My first floral attempt was a disaster when my matte top coat betrayed me and smudged the entire design.

I still don't like white nail polish on me, but I do love how fresh and summery this design is.

Don't forget to check out the other DD ladies.

Digit-al Dozen DOES Rainbows - Rainbow Ribbons

Hi Goddesses

Welcome to Digit-al Dozen Week !!  We're on RAINBOWS this month, which is just such a gorgeous theme to play with.  You don't have to go wild to be effective, and all of this week's designs are oh so simple.

For this week, this is my rainbow, all by Barry M.

I had been wearing some shiny gold nail wraps which seemed festive to me, and I had an urge to paint streamers over them.

I used a fairly small nail brush and did short shaggy strokes.  Overall I really like the effect, but wish I'd planned out my colour combos better!

Don't forget to check out what my fellow lovelies are up to.

New Crumpet - New Choices - Jamberry Nail Wraps

Hi Goddesses

Wow, it's been some time!!  Genuinely hello, and thank you for still being out there!  How are you?  Can you believe it's nearly 4 months since we last spoke?  I know!

As you know, I took a break / decided to stop blogging because I was moving house.  I am finally in, and thanks to the massive amount of destashing I did when I decided to quit blogging, THE ENTIRE NAIL ROOM fit in the boot of my car!  That's some serious destashing.  Down from over 1000 to only about 200 now.  And do you know what, it FEELS better.    Who needs 53 purple holos anyway!?!?!?

The big news for me is that I was also looking for a new business opportunity.  Having been stung badly by network marketing in the past, I really didn't want to go back out there, but my bestie and DD colleague Vic Glowstars convinced me that becoming an Independent Consultant for Jamberry Nails was a great opportunity - and do you know what, she's right!

I had always been a bit snobby about Jamberry, and VERY anti nail wraps and decals, mainly due to my huge suckage at applying them, but I have to say, I love everything I've encountered so far - especially this infographic.

One of the biggest things to sway me was my experience with my SIMPLES nail art group.  I remember there were so many of you who wanted pretty nail art but either didn't know how to, or didn't have the time.  And let's face it, we're not all PiggieLuv either, so although I was reasonably good, I still often couldn't get the images I wanted on my nails.

And Jamberry solves all that - it's quick (literally the same time as doing a 2 coat mani), it's easy (all you need tech-wise is a hairdryer and some tweezers) and above all, it has FABULOUS designs.

I'm going to be sharing a lot about my Jamberry Journey moving forward, as well as still posting Digital Dozen designs.   For me, I'm fascinated by how Jamberry nail wraps makes nail art more universal, and literally means EVERYONE can have the pretty nails they want.

So here's the first mani I did.  I was already wearing one of my favourite polishes and just decided to embellish it a little with 2 nail wraps.   On the index I have a see-through leopard print which you can apply over any base polish (SPOT ON), and on the ring finger a fabulous turquoise marble effect (SANTA FE).
