And welcome to Halloween! This is the only Halloween mani I am posting this year. That wasn't my plan, I had quite a lot of ideas in my head, and lots of lusty purples to use, but it's coincided with a major life re-evaluation which has seen me paint my nails only 3 times in the last 4 weeks. I know! I am not planning to quit blogging, but I will be posting less (hopefully with higher artistic quality) as I work out how to be an adult and what to do with my life.
Well, that was a happy start, wasn't it! lol. Let's look back on Orange, Purple and Green week, which saw some gawjus manis. Such fabulous colours.
So a few weeks ago, when I did this, it wasn't going to be my only Halloween mani. Now that it is, it seems a shit offering, but there was great THOUGHT behind it haha.
You may remember during Digital Dozen Autumn Week I was mulling over what made something what it was, the colour or the image, and I did this mani at roughly the same time. I wanted to know, if I did a Halloween mani in non-traditional colours, would it still look as good?
Well, this has a certain old 1930's black and white scary movie vibe to it, but to me it does lose something without an amazing gradient night sky. And the white cat just looks wrong lol. But hey, no one else will have a done a mani like this!
This mani uses the UberChic Halloween 01 plate which I was sent for review and LURVE.

And welcome to Saturday! I am so looking forward to this weekend :) I have my girl, we're buying her Christmas present tomorrow and then we are making mad things in the kitchen all week as she is on half-term.
Firstly, here's last week's collage for Geeks - doesn't it look awesome? There was so much creativity on show. This week's theme is Orange, Purple and Green, and for *some* people, that would lend well to a Halloween design. Yeh, not for me.
I got Aztec as my pattern, and I'm going to be honest, I'm not totally in love with this. I thought a good splodging was the best way to start, but once I'd done that, it seemed too dark to use black for my stamping. So I used white, and I don't think I like it.
The Aztec pattern is great, so let's not blame that. It's from MoYou Explorer 11. And the polishes are all cool too - OPI Siberian Nights, OPI Christmas Gone Plaid and Essie Orange It's Obvious.
There's just ... it doesn't work for me. Maybe I should have used the same pattern but stamped in colour over a white base. Oh well, you live, you learn :)
It's Week 3 of 40 Great Nail Art Ideas, which means we're back to the themes, but before we head there, let's take a look at the final collage from teal week - it's epic!
Geeks is a great theme, and we're all geeky about so many things. I struggled to pick what to do though, because although I am a geek, I feel I've already done nail art about things I'm geeky about - books, writing, Lost etc.
However, I then realised there is one obsession I haven't blogged about yet - IMDB or Internet Movie Database, to give it its full name. This is a GEM of a website. Every TV programme or film EVERRRRR is on there, and you can geek out to trivia OR just avoid a sleepless night by quickly finding out what other films that actor who was the cop's best friend has been in before.
I love it, and it's where I head after I've watched anything. Key word there - after. If you go part way through a TV series (Dexter, say), you might find off someone doesn't last longer than 4 series and thus ruin what must have been a magical moment if you didn't see it coming.
Oh and I can't believe I wore yellow .... although Happy Medium by Literary Lacquers is almost tolerable ;)
The best thing about this week was how many ideas I had - and they're not over yet. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'll have the time to get many more onto the blog, but seriously, I could do a month's worth of Autumn and not get bored.
Today takes yesterday's dotticure and adds some stamping from Lily Anna 02 in gold.
I thought the gold would add an extra edge to the mani, but the finished version isn't exactly how I saw it in my head. I like it, but it's not as awesomely autumnal as I'd have liked.
The leaves also look a bit more tropical than autumnal, don't they? Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed this week, I definitely have. See you next month for something very different!
